New World of Hyatt promotion launched – but it isn’t an easy one

World of Hyatt has launched a new Autumn promotion, although given that it requires a large number of stays – and Hyatt has a small European footprint – it is unlikely to benefit many people.

You can earn up to 60,000 bonus points (enough for between 2 and 12 free nights) based on the number of Hyatt nights you stay before 30th November.  Reward nights are included in the night totals.

The bonus is triggered as follows:

2,500 points at 5 nights

A further 5,000 points at 10 nights

A further 10,000 points at 20 nights

A further 17,500 points at 30 nights

A further 25,000 points at 40 nights

I value a World of Hyatt point at 1p, so you’re looking at £15 per night in bonuses if you hit the full 40 nights.  You are only getting £5 of bonus points per night if you can only hit five nights, however.

If you are doing the stays anyway then you should clearly register, and if you are only one night short of the next target in late November it is worth shoe-horning an extra night in somewhere.  It certainly isn’t worth moving large chunks of your business to Hyatt this Autumn however.

You need to register for this promotion here.

Registration closes on 15th October (another annoying habit I don’t like, closing registration early) and you have until 30th November to complete your stays.

    OT:
I foolishly registered my new SPG amex on the same account as my old Plat. I’ve removed the plat now but Award Wallet keeps tracking the plat card account as N/A.

If I removed the SPG card from online, am i able to set it back up using different log in details?

    • Odd. AW can handle multiple Amex cards OK.

      • FlyUpTop says:

I’m on the basic AW package if that makes any difference.

is it ok to remove the SPG card from the current online account and set it up again under a new online amex account?

      • I’ve AW plus and it stopped tracking anything amex other than MRs a long time ago. Tried deleting and re-adding the account etc.

        • On my iPhone, it miscalculates my total Amex points but – as subheadings – correctly shows everything. So it say “Amex points 500” and underneath shows (correctly) “MR points 500, Avios 200, SPG 300”.

  2. OT: looking to stay at the Intercontinental in Singapore over Easter next year. Trying to work out if it is worth getting the Ambassador membership and using the free night. But i cannot find the Ambassador weekend rate on the website.

We plan on staying 4 nights – 2 of which we will use our IHG credit card free night

Also do you get free breakfast with the membership?

    Thanks

  3. With trip advisor rentals – is there a way to pay the whole amount up front?
I.e. booking an 800 pound rental, want 15% off the whole amount.
But it is only going to take the deepest now and the rest in May next year, so will only get 15% off the deposit.

  4. OT: Can I retain my individual BAEC account as well as be the lead name for the Household family account ? I would like to keep them separate rather than combine

    • No but if you explain why you want to do this maybe we can suggest another solution. Household accounts are not combined. Aerclub/Vueling may work for you

    • Yes, that’s how it works with BA (unlike Avios.com). When you log in you see your own total and the HHA total. Any Avios you earn just go to you. However any you spend are taken pro-rata from all HHA members.

Much fanfare when BA re- introduced their INV-LHR service a couple of years ago. Then, it was increased to 2 flights on some days. Great! Now, on just checking MMB, discovered my Tuesday flight in Feb has been switched to Monday, as there is now NO direct BAflight on a Tuesday. As it was a connecting flight to SIN I either have to go on Monday and stay overnight, connect on the Monday or lose a day in SIN by starting on the Wednesday. No idea when the flights changed, no aler from BA either. Such a shame My Flights is no longer operational. It was spot on for information and changes. Moan over!

    • when this happened to me I was able reroute to fly direct from Heathrow and received original routing credit. just took a phone call to sort it.

    • Thanks to both for these comments. I’ll check ours. Are you suggesting BA now has indirect flights between LHR and INV some days, A bit confused about that?

      • My flight is 12 Feb. No direct BA flight on thatTuesday, but there are indirect flights. It seems really odd as I checked all the other Tuesday’s from Jan to March and there is a direct flight! Seems really weird that the 12th is the only day with no direct BA flight. Angway, I ‘m sticking eith flying on the Monday and staying o/n in London and taking my original SIN flight that Tuesday evening .It gives me a little leeway if the weather is an issue

        • Thanks, agree with your strategy too. Being winter it takes the stress out of the equation.

  6. O/T do you know on average how long it’s takes to transfer Melia points to BA?

  7. OT – I want to change my BA flights I booked using a 241 voucher and points. What number do I call and is it 24/7? Thanks!

    • If you go to the “Contact” section of the BA website, the numbers are there, open from 7.30 am I think. But you can also just cancel and rebook online, I don’t think the cost would be any different.

  8. My hyatt points are expiring end of October- how can i earn few points to extend their life (i can buy some but I’d rather not)?

  9. Thank you for the advice regarding BAEC and HHA.

  10. The Woughton House MGallery by Sofitel used to be a Mercure. Wonder why the change in brand.

  11. Does anyone know how many referral points you get for referring from spg to plat?
Website says 9000 from spg to spg, wondering if higher if the referred takes out a platinum card.
    Thanks

    • The same I’m afraid. Also note those 9k are Marriott points so a devaluation on the preAugust 5k SPG points = 15k Marriott.
