Can I use Qantas airport lounges with a British Airways Silver or Gold card?

A question I am often asked is whether you can use Qantas lounges if you have a British Airways Gold, Silver or Bronze status card.

Lounge access is one of the perks that many people aspire too when the travel. Nothing beats escaping the crowds of a busy terminal and settling down with some free wine or champagne before a long flight.

Your entitlement to lounge access depends on what status you hold, even with British Airways’ own lounges. British Airways Bronze members are not entitled to lounge access whilst Silver and Gold members are.

Executive Club Silver status is the equivalent to oneworld Sapphire tier, allowing you to access the oneworld equivalent business class lounges, for example. This includes Qantas business class lounges across its entire network, such as the Qantas London Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3.

(Here is our most recent review of the Qantas London Lounge at Heathrow airport.)

Unlike many other business class facilities, the Qantas London Lounge offers a la carte dining. This is normally a feature of premium First Class lounges but, since Qantas does not have a separate first class lounge at Heathrow, it opens this to all travellers in with oneworld business or first tickets or emerald / sapphire status.

Gold card holders, of course, can also access Qantas’ First Class lounges internationally. However, if you are looking for a dedicated First Class lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 which is better than the British Airways one, you are in luck.  Cathay Pacific operates an exclusive First Class lounge for oneworld alliance flyers directly above the Qantas lounge!

You can check out the global network of lounges which you can enter with your British Airways status on the oneworld alliance website here.
