British Airways launches a new route to Dammam in Saudi Arabia

Whilst probably not top of your Avios redemption wish list, British Airways has announced a new route to Dammam in Saudi Arabia.  This adds to the existing services to Riyadh and Jeddah.

It is not a non-stop service.  Dammam is being tagged onto the existing Bahrain service, which will now carry on to Saudi Arabia.

Long-term BA flyers may remember that the Bahrain service used to carry on to Doha before BA launched its own direct Doha service.

Bahrain to Dammam should be bookable in its own right as an Avios redemption and a cheap ‘fifth freedom’ cash flight.  Club World return from Bahrain to Dammam would be 80 tier points, should you be in the region and want a quick tier point run. 

Don’t get too comfy though – the flight is only 54 miles …..

Flights start on 1st December using a four-class Boeing 777-200.

To maximise your miles when paying, your best bet is the British Airways American Express Premium Plus card which earns double Avios (3 per £1) when you book at ba.com or via BA Holidays.  You do not get double Avios if you book with the free British Airways American Express card. 

Another option is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold which offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.
