Four Grange Hotels in London to rebrand as Leonardo properties

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

If you work in the City you are probably familiar with Grange Hotels, which has some prime sites and was one of the first groups to open hotels in the area.

When I started work in 1994 there were literally no major hotels in the City, with the Thistle at St Katherine Docks – which was dire even then – being the sole option.

Four of the Grange Hotels sites – Grange Tower Bridge, Grange St Paul’s, Grange City and Grange Holborn, with 1300 rooms in total – have been sold to Israeli group Fattal.

Four Grange Hotels to rebrand as Leonardo

Fattal already owns Jurys Inn and the Leonardo Hotels brands.  Leonardo took over one of the Heathrow Holiday Inn sites a couple of years ago.  It also owns the Grand Harbour hotel in Southampton and the iconic Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Grange Tower Bridge, St Pauls’s and City will be rebranded as ‘Leonardo Royal’ whilst Holborn will be the first UK hotel under the ‘Nyx by Leonardo’ brand.

You can earn 500 Lufthansa Miles & More miles per stay at Leonardo Hotels but that is the only airline deal they have.  Details of how to get Miles & More miles can be found on the website here.

Hey, same O/T post as last week (sorry!). Is anyone flying out of Heathrow Terminal 3 on Friday evening, who would appreciate lounge access? I should be getting there at 5pm (ish) and leaving 10pm (ish). Don’t worry, while you’re welcome to join me for a drink, you’re equally welcome to ignore me if you prefer a solitary lounge experience.
The nice chap who took me up on my offer last week is flying out just before I get there, unfortunately!
Also, if anyone is in Hong Kong on Saturday evening, or Sunday 21st – 3pm afternoon / evening, I can guest you in to a variety of exciting lounges too.

    • Nate1309 says:

I was impressed with the plaza premium at gate 40 in terminal 1 this week.

      • Stu N says:

Cat – I wouldn’t bother with The Wing F if you are in any way tight for time. We spent a bit long in the Ritz Carlton and so didn’t really have time to get out to the Pier and back. Our flight was going from the gates right next to The Wing. It’s an odd shape and just doesn’t “work” – feels like you’re just kicking round the terminal rather than actually in a lounge. Odd.

        • Cat says:

Thanks Stu, they both have their plus points (the Wing has the Cabanas…), but I definitely prefer the Pier too.
          Thanks!

  • Anna says:

OT – Bonvoy points still not transferred from SPG card. I thought they might just have done in early in Feb but neither mine nor OH’s March points have arrived yet.

    • Shoestring says:

My Amex a/c points swept over en route to MB last night, just in time for me to miss the +30% promo…not yet in MB, takes a couple of days

if you’re still missing points swept out of Amex a/c more than a few days ago (unsure if you mean your points left Amex a/c already), you’d better chase it

    • ankomonkey says:

Mine arrived this morning (basic + double points bonus) 🙂

      • New Card says:

1 point per £1 extra or true double points, so 3 points per £1 extra?

  • Fraser says:

I don’t understand the Leonardo Royal branding. I’ve stayed at the Grange Tower Bridge and would rate it substantially higher than another Leonardo Royal, the former Premier Inn at Haymarket in Edinburgh. What level is it meant to be at, and what makes it “royal”?

    • Alex Sm says:

see below for the definition of royal 🙂 but TBH compared to the Leonardo hotel on a Tel Aviv highway (across the road from the Crowne Plaza where my partner and I stayed last October) any of these London properties IS “royal”

You can get a ROYAL CORLEONE SHIRT for only £380.
That is an offer I can refuse!

    • Paul Stevens says:

Great offer but – wow – look at those prices! If I split over two cards I might be able to get a pair of trainers for £70 – and they are the cheap ones

  • BJ says:

OT: Currently sat in lounge at XXX, Mrs X at the door whom U usually have a chat with just asked me if I’d like to pay for breakfast? I said, pull the other leg, I know what day it is. However, it seems serious, she has a detailed survey sounding her out on means to manage congestion and reduce costs in BA lounges. It seems paid bars, paid food, restricted access at peak times, and dedicated silver and gold lounges are all under consideration. Just a survey so no need for panic but who knows.

    • Neil says:

Ha! Well done BA, Just when we thought things were getting better. Bring on the new Oneworld Lounges asap then.

    • Alex W says:

I hope it’s some kind of sick joke! Paying for food?? What is the point of the lounge exactly?

      • Lady London says:

Was that……paying for THAT food in the Heathrow lounges?

    • Peter says:

      April fools I believe? 🙂

      • BJ says:

Yes 🙂 Not near as good as my effort with Iberia 90k avios single-use voucher last year, even got Rob to bite that one.

  • KBuffett says:

OT – Does anyone know if Le Royal Meridien Beach & Spa in Dubai gives full breakfast in the main area for Titanium Elite members, or is it a reduced breakfast in a lounge?

  • Ian says:

OT – Same old problems with the latest Spanish Groupon offer.

No matter what browser is used (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, even the app) I was still unable to get the voucher to validate within the 7-day period. Groupon are ‘looking into the issue’ and getting back to me within 7 days.

It’s not that I couldn’t put the relevant details into the Google form and get it to accept them, more that the voucher would still be sitting in my account awaiting use after the process.

    It’s a shambles.

  • Andrew says:

    Rob

Have you checked your IHG promotion recently? Mine was updated with an additional line worth 4,000 points for 2 stays about a fortnight ago.

    • Rob says:

I did actually, but nothing there! Probably because I have been slow in hitting the existing targets.
