Radisson Rewards has announced its Summer promotion.

Called ‘Discover More Staying Power’, it is valid for stays worldwide between 27th May and 31st August.  Participating brands are Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson,

You will earn 3,000 bonus Radisson Rewards points per NIGHT, starting with your 2nd stay during the promotional period.

I tend to value a Radisson Rewards point at 0.33p.  This means that you are getting £9 of bonus points per night.  This is a very good return, especially at cheap Park Inn hotels.

You MUST register in advance for this offer by clicking here.  Existing bookings count.  Reward nights and, importantly, ‘points & cash’ bookings do not count.  As usual, stays booked via third parties such as Expedia will not count.

Be careful with the ‘starting with your 2nd stay’ rule.  If you were going to spend 7-10 days in a Radisson Rewards hotel it might be worth seeking out a cheap Park Inn somewhere to sneak in a mattress run night before that.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

These cards earn Membership Rewards points:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Premium status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.

OT – Still no sign of the return of £1 Europcar one way rentals. I fear this could be the end

  • Anna says:

OT – just checked in for our first First to NYC tomorrow. We have been put in row 1 on the MAN-LHR connection which is nice (first off and into the Concorde lounge lol). We are already in 2A and 2K on the LHR-JFK leg but 1A and 1K are still showing unavailable. Is there any chance of these opening up 24 hours before the flight (about 1430 hours today) or am I wasting my time chasing these seats now? I have not printed our boarding passes yet as per Shoestring’s tip!

    • Michael says:

Yes i believe they open up 24 hours before departure, check back then

      • Tom Cook says:

Sometimes they are then even held to check in – recently our lad was bumped into 1a at check in, which he obviously loved.

    • Rob says:

2A/K are a long way apart, too far to talk. Better in 2A/3A in my view.

      • Anna says:

We both want a window seat and don’t mind about the talking! We’ll do buddy dining if we’re missing each other 😂

        • Grant says:

With the exception of the centre seats in Rows 4 and 5, all the seats in First on the 747 have windows. Having just done the exact same journey as our first First, out in 2K / 3K and back in 2A / 2K, I’d choose 2K / 3K if we did it again and 1A/K wasn’t available.

          • Anna says:

I know, that’s why I didn’t pick middle seats when we booked (I also read that these are not very private). Happy with 2A and 2K but it would be nice to fly in the nose…with all the changes going on it may be our only chance to do it!

    • Stu N says:

Are 1A/1K occupied or blocked? They are usually released at T-72 if not occupied so you may be out of luck. You still get a bit of a forward view from Row 2, and it’s still a lovely way to fly so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it regardless.

  • Diydegsy says:

My daughter has a gold supplementary card courtesy of my platinum card is she entitled to the 2 free lounge passes or is that only availability if you get a gold card in your own right?

  • Brian says:

OT somewhat, but perhaps of interest to some: the Hilton promotion has the annoying ‘second-stay’ condition, as we know. However, I booked a stay this week as two separate stays (three nights and then a subsequent night) because it was so much cheaper that way. The points were all lumped together for the second stay and I got double points for the whole lot, rather than just the few for the last night. Not sure if this is how it always works, but I was pleased about it.

  • Jordan D says:

Rob – did you ascertain whether the new Add Lee credit is just for the main Plat cardholder or the Supp one too?

  • Jtz says:

OT weird question, we just moved to a new place and filled out the new address electoral roll form last week, maybe Friday, I applied for virgin rewards card on the weekend using my old address and was rejected.
I want to try appealing, do I include my old address in there?( I’m still registered there too)

    Thanks

    • sunguy says:

You should be honest and upfront – it also may have nothing to do with your address.

Write from your new address as the return address, referencing your old address and the application number, stating the dates you moved.

You should probably also get yourself a credit history report from the usual suspects – including, when asked, both new and old addresses.

  • Richard says:

OT and probably been mentioned before, but where do Lloyd’s upgrade vouchers appear now? Avios or BAEC?

    • Liam says:

I got one recently and it’s sitting in my Avios.com account.

    • Rob says:

Online, nowhere. You need to call.

      • Tom H says:

Mine appeared last week into my Avios account

      • Rich says:

I just used one that was sitting in my Avios.com account – albeit earned last year. Didn’t expect the account to be still running, but logged in and the voucher was there. Transferred the points in using Combine My Avios and booked online.

  • Liam says:

OT — I need to fly to Chicago in July; I will be flying economy but want to check a bag. Is there a good flight-search service out there which will allow me to see prices that include a checked bag? It seems that while some airlines list their most basic fare as “basic economy” (or similar), others still tag it “economy”, and there seems to be no way of filtering by what is actually included in the fare. Hopefully I’m missing something simple.

    • Grant says:

Google Flights will show which fares include a checked back – I think you can filter out those that don’t too.

I found it to be a very good tool

      • Liam says:

Hmmm. All I could find on there under the ‘Bags’ filter on Google Flights was the option of selecting fares that include a carry-on bag. Once I choose flights I often then have the option of showing that particular fare with either basic (carry-on) or regular (checked bag) economy, but I can’t see an overview of all flights with that pricing option. Oh well.
