Watch Wimbledon with IHG Rewards Club.

The IHG Rewards Club auction platform is pretty useless if you live in the UK.   Now and then, however, a good one slips through.

IHG Rewards Club is currently offering a pair of Centre Court Wimbledon tickets for Wednesday 3rd July.  This comes with full hospitality throughout the day in the Hertz suite.

For some reason it says ‘two Centre Court/No 1 court tickets’ – I’m not sure if they have seats for both and you can switch between courts as you wish.

The current bid is a puny 81,000 IHG Rewards Club points which (based on my 0.4p per point valuation) is £200-worth.  For comparison, the market rate for two Debenture Tickets for Centre Court for 3rd July is £3,250.

You can bid here.

OT Using a new TA at work (there goes my spend targets) and they have booked me on a flight to Denver next week in Economy. Outbound is a V ticket and inbound is S. I can’t upgrade online with Avios or cash. What are the chances at the airport? Looking at the availability, why don’t these codes show up? https://www.dropbox.com/s/vj7c5y3m7disgy5/loadcheck.PNG?dl=0 They did come out £400 cheaper than BA direct when booking, but will get 100% Avios and full TPs

    OT: Gold charge card
To readers who still have the Gold charge card or have downgraded Plat to Gold, have the changes to the credit card also made it to the charge card? ie are referrals down to 6k MR? And are the 2x & 3x earning multipliers and the 10k for 15k bonus the same for both?

That’s just reminded me of the good old days when you’d get 4x points at some petrol stations as it was counted as travel and petrol and the computer had a blip. 😁

  • Anna says:

Currently at the Millennium Hilton One UN Plaza and very impressed. We got a 2 category upgrade to a huge (by NYC standards!) king corner room. Exceptionally comfy bed, no noise at all from the street. Decent nibbles in the lounge last night when we arrived but didn’t need a full meal (thanks to F flight!). Just enjoying the very good continental breakfast spread in the 30th floor Sky Lounge. The Empire State Building & Chrysler building should be directly in our sight line but annoying are completely obscured by clouds this morning!

    • Reggie R says:

Have you considered complaining to the Mayor of New York about the clouds? You might get a free pair of city passes or something? 🙂 🙂

I am particularly gutted because I was hoping to see the sunset phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge but there’s no chance of that in this weather. 2 years ago I was hoping to see the solar eclipse from the Caribbean and it fell on the only cloudy day in our 3 week holiday. I’ve just been saying to my OH that I could travel the world ruining everyone’s chances of witnessing rare astronomical events.

    • Mike says:

Anna – keep the updates coming. Loving hearing about your Birthday holiday – have a great time. Are you F on way back ?

      • Anna says:

No, J – I didn’t think it was worth the extra avios for 7 hours of trying to sleep which is usually what an overnight flight involves for me!

    • Lady London says:

      *jealous

    • Tom Cook says:

Enjoy, and happy belated birthday! We stayed at the same hotel over Christmas, not a bad spot! Plus the Labrador sniffer dogs on the doors always made us smile – if they’re anything like our lab they’d only be good for sniffing out hidden treats!

OT at the cricket today via emirates – thanks Rob. View good. But get there early to get tickets as queue was insane

  • OT King says:

O/T My son wants to be a pilot, but he wants to fly for Virgin because he likes the big red planes. He’s 4 years old. How can I convince him to fly for BA so I can get the staff discounts and freebies on the routes they fly? Even easyJet flies to more places I go to than Virgin. Any ideas?

    • Michael says:

Air India have big red planes – perhaps you’d prefer the staff freebies they give out?

      • BJ says:

AirAsiaX, they’ll probably be the world’s biggest airline by the time the kid is 20.

    • marcw says:

Let him grow older. Maybe Virgin will not exist by the time he plans to join a company… and other may appear.

  • Concerto says:

Is it possible to redeem one way on ANA, or does it have to be round trip?

    • Michael says:

      RT so i keep reading

    • Lady London says:

It may depend whose miles you are using.
I’ve definitely redeemed one ways on them but I can’t remember whose miles I used.

  • Lee says:

OT – saw the discussion above about using Virgin miles to book ANA to Japan. Here is another option if using MR transfer.
Just booked return CPH-TYO using 100K in SAS business with + £19 tax. It’s getting better if travelling with kids for half of the miles. Above average cabin.

  • Concerto says:

Is it possible to book one way on ANA, or only round trip?
