Avis is currently running another good Avios offer, which lets you earn at least 1,500 Avios for a minimum 3 day car hire.

However, the offer expires on 15th November so you don’t have long to book.  It is valid for rentals until the end of January, subject to a Christmas and New Year blackout.

BA Avis

What’s the Avis and Avios offer?

If you book an Avis car for three days or more, you will receive 800 bonus Avios.  This is on top of the minimum 700 base Avios you will earn, meaning that you are guaranteed to receive at least 1,500 Avios.

Here is a summary of the small print:

You must rent a Group C or above car for a minimum of 3 days

Bookings need to be made by 15th November 2019

Rentals must be picked up by 31st January 2020, excluding Christmas blackout period of 16th December 2019 to 1st January 2020. Please note – these blackout dates are for pick up only so if you pick up your car on 15th December you will still earn the bonus Avios.

You must use a British Airways/Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number, which we list below, when booking

Valid for all participating rental locations worldwide (list of participating venues is here )

This Avios bonus is not valid on Prestige, Van or Chauffeur Drive rentals

You can check out the full details on the Avis / BA website here.

How many Avios will I earn?

There’s a minimum rental of 3+ days, which will get you base earnings of 3 Avios per £1, with a minimum of 700 Avios.  This promotion gives you an additional 800 bonus Avios, meaning you will earn at least 1,500 Avios per qualifying rental.

Top tip: You will also earn an additional 250 Avios if you pay for your rental with a British Airways American Express or British Airways American Express Premium Plus credit card. Assuming you do pay with a BA Amex Card, you will earn a minimum of 1,750 Avios and potentially more depending on how much you spend.

There is cap of 10,000 Avios per rental – although you’d need to spend over £3,000 to hit that cap – that’s one long rental!

Are there any other Avis / Avios offers available?

Don’t forget about the free additional driver perk if you book via the British Airways discount codes below.  It’s one of the main BA-Avis partnership benefits and can be pretty useful if you are travelling with someone else.

In addition, Avis also has two other Avios bonuses you can collect on top of this offer:

  • If you join Avis Preferred for free you will collect an additional 1,000 bonus Avios on your first Preferred rental
  • If you rent with Avis four times in a calendar year, you will earn 1,000 bonus Avios

Avis Avios promotion

How do I book the 1,500 Avios offer?

There’s a dedicated booking site for Avis and BA which you can find here and which automatically adds the correct discount code.

If you use, you will need to manually add the British Airways discount codes (AWD). These are based on your British Airways Executive Club status:

Gold members – N744400

Silver members – N744300

Bronze members – N284300

Blue members – N744100

  1. Worth mentioning that I’ve been getting better prices via Avis Preferred than BA and they also include the free additional driver now as well

  2. I tried to use this for a booking in Larnaca, but all rentals showed under the Budget brand, not Avis, so were ineligible.

However, using the SAS Eurobonus offer/link, I was able to find Avis availability, netting 6000 Eurobonus points. SAS also offer all members Avis Preferred status, just like Amex Platinum (but their link works correctly).

I never had a SAS account before but will probably use it, as I’ve tried crediting various SAS flights to Virgin in the last year but they never posted.

  3. If you book through the main BA site using a BAPP, you get 3 Avios/£ as the charge is to BA and not Avis.

Avis also have a 3 days for the price of 2 offer for weekend rentals.

I’m flying from T5 on a Tuesday later this month. My local taxi firm wanted £95 to take me to LHR. I’ve rented a Group E car from Avis for £64 for 3 days, picking up from T5 on a Saturday. Avis T5 is in the short stay car park attached to the terminal. And I should pick up 2000 Avios.

(Price on my rental booked now would only be £57, but I pre paid)

    • I got the an email advertising the 1500 Avios on rentals email on 14th Oct and booked through “” with a BAPP as that was the site linked in the email, but the charge showed up as coming from “AVIS CENTRAL LISBON” and not BA, so I assume I will only get the 1500 Avios + the bonus 250 Avios from using the BAPP (terms and conditions at state bookings,, BA Call Centres or Avis Call Centres all qualify, but just redirects to, so I assume it must count!).

So you’re saying the right thing to do here if you have a BAPP would have been to ignore the link in the email, book the car hire through, and get x3 Avios + 1500 + 250 rather than x1.5 and the rest? I assume you get the right AWD code when you book via, or do you have to punch it in manually?

      • OK. I’ve been checking all the options again. I didn’t pick up Sinead’s point that the base points with carhire-ba are 3/£. At you only get 1/£ base points, so the carhire site is better after all!

Although its worth checking the options at all three sites as they may differ.

    • where do i find this offer?
I can find it in US but not UK

  4. There’s a slightly better version of this deal through Iberia – 3000 rather than 1500 Avios, but you need to book a minimum of 4 days instead of 3.

The Iberia one also runs for longer – until 15th December.

    • The full detail of the current 3000 avios with Iberia offer reads –
“As an Iberia Plus member, book and rent your car with Avis from 1st October until 15th December and collect a minimum of 3,000 Avios. And make your weekend even bigger with Avis.
Valid for 4 days or more rentals, including Saturday night, and car group C or above.”
      Find it here –
But as always with Avis and extra Avios offers, buyer beware. Do keep screen grabs and be prepared to chase them!
