Blacklane will no longer award airline miles or hotel points when you ride

We’ve covered the Blacklane chauffeur service a few times in the past.  It isn’t cheap, but their global coverage is excellent.  If you wanted to have a professional driver and a reliable car meet you at the airport they were a good choice, especially as they have a decent app.

Another advantage of using Blacklane was that they awarded airline miles with every ride.  Unfortunately the company seems to have decided that this was no longer cost effective.

A few partnerships have dropped away in recent months.  The company is now closing down all of the rest:

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer: ended 20th March
Lufthansa Miles & More: ends 31st March
Asia Miles: ends 30th April
Shangri-La’s Golden Circle: ends 30th April

I was always good to pick up some Miles & More miles from my Blacklane bookings, so this is a bit of a shame.

I’m not entirely sure if Blacklane is cutting back because it is in trouble or if it now feels that it is strong enough to compete without such perks.  Discount codes and ‘first user’ offers have also dropped off considerably in recent months.  Given coronavirus, it may end up regretting removing incentives to book.

I’ve always been happy with their service – especially outside Europe where it is better value for money – and will probably continue with it.
