  I’m due to fly to SFO in August. Sceptical as to whether that will happen at this point but keeping my fingers cross that the US travel ban is lifted and the U.K. 14 day quarantine is no longer required.

    More chance the UK have lifted their quarantine. not a chance of the US doing so I’m afraid. IMHO Trump isn’t going to lift the ban until after the election. He has been clear in saying this is a foreign virus that is causing American jobs to be lost. Regardless of how incorrect that statement is, he is unlikely to change his position this side of the election especially given his latest polling numbers.

    In any event the Bay Area is still under shelter in place. We were the first area in the States to issue such an order and the local county governments are determined not to ease restrictions too soon- we are still, on the whole, restricted to staying within our country of residence (essentially not moving out of your local district council area in the UK). So even if Trump allows visitors it is likely that the Bay Area will still have some form of shelter in place operating.

  It’s just a shame Booking .com have not looked after there clients .Its ok offering all sorts of promotions now to get new business but they have let down thousands of customers and walked away leaving them to deal with the hotels directly through this Pandemic they are a disgrace . You cannot speak to anyone they are not interested.
  Come on booking .com ring me ( a manager please )

    I’d rather not bother Anna. I’ve cancelled September and November trips but that was more to do with the cost of paying for respite care 24/7.
    But I’ve extended my January trip by 3 nights to make a 10 night trip.
    I looked at 6 nights at champneys it was eye watering the price compared to a 5 star hotel in Dubai.

    It’s that latter bit that worries me the most, we are due to do the North Coast 500 in August a trip that I have been planning for over a year. Half the hotels are non-refundable, booked prior to Covid partly because they were the only or best option and fully refundable wasn’t available. At least I have a bit of time to weigh up the options.

      Just had to google this, it looks great though. We love Scotland but generally stay around Perthshire area though we have been further out on various trips. But Nicola Sturgeon recently announced that Scotland wasn’t going to be open for holidays at all this summer, and even if it is, I wouldn’t be sure of a warm welcome. If your hotels are closed though, shouldn’t they be offering a refund?

          I meant if they are still closed when you were due to travel. Of course, it’s an utter shambles in England, but Scotland is a different matter and can act independently of Westminster in respect of COVID restrictions. If you look at the plan for easing lockdown on the Scottish government website, it goes from phase 1 to 4 with no mention of allowing travellers in from outside Scotland!

          Thanks Anna, it was a useful nudge for me to look directly at the Scottish advice. I had planned the trip for after the Scottish school summer holidays which makes me a little more optimistic. Plan B is to sit in my garden and make pizza for 2 weeks.

          Craig@ i think it’s safe for me to drive 300 miles to Scotland after all it was safe when i drove 260 or was it 240 miles & a trip out
          I’m a reasonable parent wanting to keep safe plus Nicola’s keeping Scotland safe
          So I’m only acting responsibly in taking myself off to Scotland i wont need any food lost my taste just a bit of a fever my coughing gone down a bit now as well
          Can i stop with you ? you wont tell Nicola ? will you i wouldn’t want her unduly worrying

        Perthshire is just so easy to get to from London.

        Join the A40 and keep going North.
        At the first roundabout, take the first, second or third exit and you are in Perthshire.

        Straight 5h30m from Oxford Jn 8A.

        It’s a journey I do at least 6 times a year, although I usually spend a Friday night in my favourite hotel (Holiday Inn, Warrington) and finish the drive on a Saturday morning.

  Flying to LAS on 9th July and all the commentary says we won’t be flying but VS still not cancelled the flights. So if they are running cargo do we get cancellation rights already or do we wait until maybe 2 weeks before travel is due before they cancel our tickets? Thanks

  We are booked end of July on a virgin miles return to HK which was the first leg of a 3 week trip to Australia. Hoping it is cancelled as we would need to quarantine for 2 week in Oz if we got there. Not sure what they are offering with regards to redemption flights??

    When I eventually managed to get through to speak about my options for my miles plus money flight to Johannesburg a couple of weeks ago, my miles were redeposited almost instantly. Of course, the cash is going to take some time later.

  Should either be:

  Or change your wording and not use the term “remaining” when using 16.1%.
