News: Virgin Atlantic publishes its July flying schedule, Stelios loses key easyJet vote

Virgin Atlantic pushes back resumption of passengers flights to July
Virgin Atlantic has reacted to the new UK quarantine restrictions by pushing back the start of passenger services to 1st July.
The following schedule is currently planned to begin on 1st July:
- Hong Kong
- Lagos
- Los Angeles
- Johannesburg
- New York JFK
- Tel Aviv
All flights will operate daily. A broader schedule is expected to operate from 13th July.
The airline is not dormant, however, with a fairly large cargo schedule currently operating.
Stelios loses his fight to oust the easyJet board
On Friday, easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou failed in his bid to oust the chief executive and three other members of the board.
As we covered previously, Stelios was attempting to remove the board in a last-ditch move to block the £4.5 billion acquisition of 107 new Airbus aircraft. He believes that the company cannot afford to purchase new planes and, more importantly, will not be able to deploy them profitably.
Despite having 34% of the votes via his family shareholding, he was unable to attract 16.1% of the remaining votes at the shareholders meeting.
Stelios has not given up, however. He is currently offering a £5 million reward to anyone who can link easyJet to the institutional bribery undertaken by Airbus over the past decade for which it was recently fined €3.6 billion. The only remaining hope of having the Airbus contract cancelled would be to prove that it was obtained unlawfully.
