Up to £500 of freebies for American Express Business Platinum cardholders

American Express has rolled out a range of free gifts (technically, statement credits refunding your purchase) for holders of American Express Business Platinum this morning.
These are on top of the £250 of annual fee credit which the company has already announced that all Business Platinum cardholders will be receiving.
If you have a personal Platinum card, there are lots of goodies for you too. This article (click) looks at the £100 statement credits offered to personal American Express Platinum cardholders.
What do American Express Business Platinum cardholders get?
This is a complex package. We need to do a bit of reader crowdsourcing to work out how to get the most benefit from this.
There are three offers. Everyone should have all three according to communications I received from Amex:
Offer 1: £150 to spend with Dell
Until 27th August, you will receive a statement credit of £150 when you spend £150 or more with Dell Technologies. In theory you are asked to shop via this URL: dell.co.uk/amex but I’m not sure if this is totally necessary.
Be careful with the wording here. If you spend less than £150, you get nothing back. If you spend £151, you get £150 back. If you don’t need any IT equipment, there is a range of backpacks and small luggage.
The sweet spot would be if you could put together a basket of goods for just over £150 which you could easily resell or donate to charity. Ideas welcomed!
(EDIT: Since this offer launched, Amex has changed the rules. The £150 is now triggered by cumulative purchases, so you don’t need to spend £150 in one purchase.)
Offer 2: £200 to spend online with Currys PC World, Carphone Warehouse, Google Store or O2 Business
This will show on your card as the ‘Business Bundle’ offer.
This offer runs to 31st December. You get TEN x £20 statement credits, which trigger on purchases of £20+ at any of these stores. It is ONLY valid for online purchases although it is possible that Currys PC World instore transactions would count when their stores re-open. We should be able to test this soon. Note that all Carphone Warehouse stand-alone stores have been permanently closed.
The O2 Business offer is only valid on handset, sim only and tablet business plans. Google Store only sells ‘physical’ products such as Google’s range of laptops and phones.
Because this deal runs to 31st December, you could switch your SIM-only mobile phone contract to Carphone Warehouse. You would get at least six x £20 credits triggered before the end of the year if you bought a £20+ plan.
Currys PC World (home page here) is the most interesting place to look for deals. There are lots of household appliances, video games, smart toys etc and EVERYTHING comes with free UK delivery.
If you’ve got a coffee machine, they have pods with free delivery – see here
There are £50 App Store / iTunes gift cards available for delivery – see here
If you have a games console, here are the console games which Currys sells
If you are into PC gaming, £20 STEAM Wallet gift cards are available for delivery here (and you six months of Spotify Premium for free too!)
Let us know in the comments if you see any interesting opportunities for £20. I did look at Currys own-brand gift cards but these are sold via a separate website and may not trigger the cashback. If they did, you could buy 10 x £20 Currys gift cards and then redeem them for a £200 item, which would be very interesting.
Offer 3: £150 to spend with FedEx
This offer runs to 31st December. You get SIX x £25 statement credits which trigger on purchases of £25+ at FedEx. It appears to only be available via fedex.co.uk.
Do I need to register for this offer?
Yes.
You MUST register your card for this offer.
You must register for each offer separately. To register, go to the ‘Offers’ section of your online statement page for your American Express Business Platinum card. Scroll down until you see this promotion and click ‘Save To Card’. You’re good to go!
This offer is NOT available on supplementary cards.
Can I apply for Business Platinum now and get this offer?
It isn’t clear. As these offers run until at least late August, you would have plenty of time to take advantage.
However, it depends on American Express adding the deal to the ‘Offers’ tab of your online statement page and we cannot be certain that this will happen for new applicants. I’m sure we will find out soon enough.

Conclusion
There is some real value here, but it is going to take a bit of work to tease out the best value!
Please let us know if you find any good deals from Dell (at around £150) or Currys PC World, Google Store or Carphone Warehouse (at around £20) and we can share them with your fellow HfP readers.
