Eurostar has cancelled its dedicated ski services to France for 2020.

Last month, we reported that Eurostar has cancelled its services to the south of France.  These were the trains heading to Lyon, Avignon and Marseille.

As well as cancelling the services for 2020, Eurostar has already cancelled them for 2021 too.

The axe has now fallen on the Winter ski services too.

The Eurostar website now says:

“IMPORTANT: We unfortunately won’t be running our ski trains during the 2020-21 winter season. It’s been an absolute pleasure to take thousands of travellers direct from St Pancras to the Alps over the years. But in the wake of the coronavirus and a challenging travel market, we’ve had to make some changes to our services, focusing on our main routes with the highest demand.

You’ll be able to book an indirect trip to the Alps on our website from October. This would mean taking a Eurostar train to France and changing onto an SNCF train for the rest of the journey.

Eurostar is a member of Railteam, which means travellers can benefit from the ‘Hop on the next available train’ feature should they experience any delays or cancellations on their journey, providing peace of mind when connecting between trains.”

How to get Club Eurostar points and lounge access from UK credit cards

How to get Club Eurostar points and lounge access from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Club Eurostar does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Club Eurostar points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 15:1 into Club Eurostar points.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, so you will get the equivalent of 1 Club Eurostar point for every £15 you spend.

American Express Platinum comes with a great Eurostar benefit – Eurostar lounge access!

You can enter any Eurostar lounge, irrespective of your ticket type, simply by showing The Platinum Card at the desk.  No guests are allowed but you can get entry for your partner by issuing them with a free supplementary Amex Platinum card on your account.

I have been following some Hilton prices.
They went up for this promo period and the frontline prices are higher than prices a few days ago. So key workers are being invited to pay more than before.

    • Brighton Belle says:

Cancel that, I wasn’t clicking the pricing tool right

    • Nigel W says:

Over three different Amex’s (BAPP, Platinum and father’s Cent), no Harrods offers on any!

  • TGLoyalty says:

Strangely no Harrods offer over 10 cards.

2 primary and the rest Supps, even missing from a supp where the main cardholder has the offer which is really odd.

    • Andrew says:

Out of my 10 cards Harrods was only on the main BAPP, not on supps and not on any Plat/Gold cards.

    • Lady London says:

there will be something in August for Harrods.

hold off for a bit longer if you can on the Harvey Nicks within the validity in case there is going to be another one as oft reported, in which case they would stack.

  • Mark says:

Checked the key worker rate for a night in August at the Hilton Syon Park vs what I had paid when booking and it was only £6 cheaper, so not worth cancelling, rebooking and risking a haggle at check in in my view!

    • James says:

If its nothing to you why not cancel it, book again and donate the difference to a charity that will think its worth it?

    • jessiefan says:

Hilton prices already pretty low, I’m not sure what you were expecting? That they give rooms away?

  • KBuffett says:

What are considered to be the best Hilton properties on the UK? Most luxurious etc

    • Rob says:

Very few truly great. St George’s Park (Midlands) is a decent ‘country’ place. Waldorf Edinburgh. Hilton Bankside London. Hilton Bournemouth, oddly.

None of these are more than 25% as good as, say, Four Seasons Hampshire though.

Not sure if the ‘Curio’ hotels will be included as they are not Hilton managed.

    • Mr(s) Entitled says:

Not luxury but the Double Tree Chester is good and a nice city to visit albeit a cab ride away from the hotel. Hilton Liverpool is standard Hilton Brand affair but great location with everything in walking distance. No need to spend long in the hotel other than to sleep.

      • Anne says:

Another vote for the Doubletree at Chester. We spent 2 nights there last week and it is a very decent hotel, albeit even better when the spa is open (free entry for HH gold and diamond – reopening next month I think). Hotel was very quiet but staff were great and we felt that the Covid measures taken were more than sufficient but also subtle enough that they didn’t detract from our stay.

They were doing hot breakfast items to order plus a small continental selection and the restaurant was open in the evening with a slightly reduced menu. We got an upgrade to a deluxe room as gold but tbh I expected this would be the case given the lack of customers!

How can I prove I work in financial service if I use the Hilton promotion?

  • Sussex Bantam says:

Financial services have been key workers since day 1. I particularly enjoyed Jeremy Corbyn clapping so enthusiastically for the bankers…

  • Flightsy says:

Lol, Financial Services workers have always been on the key workers list. The government actually worked with FS sector to define a specified list of roles at the start of the outbreak when determining what key workers were entitled to continue sending their children to school. However I doubt very much that the Hilton will be asking you to prove what role you do as the terms of the offer seem generic. I’ve found a work email usually suffices as evidence as my work pass doesn’t have any company logo on it.

  • JdeW says:

Re, the Amex Platinum latest offers my card does not show either the Harrods offer or the Burberry offer.
