How our story on BA selling its First Class crockery hit NBC News in the US and Chinese TV!

It’s been a slightly bizarre week here at Head for Points.

When we found out last weekend that British Airways was going to be selling off its First Class crockery, we knew it would be of interest to the mainstream media and we sent out a couple of quotes.

Little did we know how it would take off. Last Monday was our biggest day ever for page views by a substantial margin.

William Edwards crockery British Airways First class

We’ve been quoted in many newspaper stories including BBC News (where it was the most read story on Monday), The Telegraph, The Guardian and the Daily Mail. We’ve done a couple of radio interviews too.

I never expected that Rhys would end up, admittedly briefly, on NBC’s ‘Today’ breakfast show in the United States, however!

As its a quiet Sunday, I thought you might like to see the clip. It you are reading this via email, you need to visit the NBC website here.

We also did English-language Chinese TV!

You can find the clip on our (slightly neglected) YouTube channel here.

Great to see – keep up the excellent work!

  • Nick says:

Nice piece guys, but you really should get a HfP green screen virtual background for interviews. I believe you can do this on Zoom, but have never done it so not sure.

  • Peter K says:

“40% fewer 1st class seats”. Sad to say, the correct use of grammar made me happy! Well done Rhys.

  • Andrew says:

Really glad this sale has done good things for HFP exposure. And I’m really grateful to you for highlighting this sale ahead of the rush – I was ordering mine by 7:45 on Monday morning and enjoying dinner off my new plates yesterday. Maybe a Christmas “for fun” article where we send in photos of our First meal set up recreations?

    • Rob says:

Happy to publish those, if only on Insta, over Christmas if people send them in!

  • Alex Sm says:

Well done HfP – you see where the public interest is and what type of stories are really popular!

  • Frankie says:

    Well done Rhys! Great interviews!

  • Mark says:

    Well done Rhys!

  • hypotermouse says:

I’d never heard of the website selling the British Airways items, but perhaps I’m not its target audience. I suppose they had record views too?

    • Rhys says:

Neither had we, to be fair! And given the site was unavailable for large chunks of Monday evening, I would say so…
