Here are 10 new Hilton hotels you’ll want to visit in 2021

Hilton is, arguably, setting the pace amongst the hotel loyalty programmes at the moment:

  • until the year end, each stay earns double elite night credits and double base points if you register here
  • ALL your elite night credits from 2020 will carry over into 2021
  • in 2021, the qualification requirements have been halved, so top-tier Diamond Elite will only require 30 elite nights (and that INCLUDES the ones you carry over from 2020, and remember that you currently earn double credits)

If you could do 15 nights in December (reward nights and day rooms count) you would end the year with 30 elite nights. (You MUST register for this offer here.) You would hit Diamond Elite instantly on 1st January when your 30 elite nights carry over, and that status would be good for all of 2021, all of 2022 and until 31st March 2023.

Where can you use your Hilton points and status in 2021?

I asked Hilton to send me details of 10 new hotels opening in 2021 which would resonate with a UK audience. They chose well, and I think that most of you will find at least a couple of these properties tempting.

North Wales

Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia

Just 20km from this year’s I’m a Celebrity castle, located within Adventure Parc Snowdonia and offering unobstructed views of the mountains of North Wales, this new opening is a recommended for thrill-seekers and adventure lovers. It is launching in tandem with the opening of the park’s Wave Garden Spa. Opening March 2021. The website is here.

Cambridge

The Fellows House Cambridge, Curio Collection by Hilton

Opening next summer, The Fellows House, Curio Collection by Hilton, is just a short walk from the River Cam and Jesus Green and offers a good opportunity for a staycation. Everything from the hotel’s interiors to its name pays, they say, tasteful tribute to the great minds who have graced the city through the centuries. Filled with poetry, scientific drawings and famous quotations, the hotel claims to offer a place to stay, eat and drink in the style and culture of the city. The website is here.

EDIT: we reviewed The Fellows House Cambridge in August 2021 – click here.

The Faroe Islands

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands

Located minutes from the breath-taking Svartafoss Waterfall, Nordic House, and the National Museum of the Faroe Islands, this hotel offers a weekend break with a difference. In line with the island’s sustainable growth strategy, the hotel is powered by energy left over from local industries and features water saving showers and intelligent lighting to further reduce its footprint. Flight details from the UK are discussed in this HfP article. The website is here.

Kyoto

LXR Hotels & Resorts, Roku Kyoto

Situated in an area home to some of the region’s most idyllic Japanese gardens, historic architecture and authentic tea houses, Roku Kyoto will be the first property in Asia under Hilton’s luxury LXR brand. Opening in the second half of 2021, the resort will offer a luxurious and refreshing stay with fine dining restaurants and spa treatments paired with natural hot springs.

Mango House Seychelles LXR Hilton render

The Seychelles

Mango House, Seychelles, LXR Hotels and Resorts

We covered this hotel briefly last week. Originally built as a family dwelling, Mango House Seychelles features 41 guest rooms in a remote and private location. Set to open in March 2021, the resort will give guests direct views of the Indian Ocean and is the perfect spot to explore Mahé’s sandy beaches, flora and fauna. The website is here.

Dubai

Hilton Dubai Palm

Penned to open simultaneously with the re-arranged World EXPO 2020 next October, this new Hilton Dubai Palm beach resort sits on the main trunk of Palm Jumeirah, overlooking the Arabian Gulf. I am at the Waldorf Astoria on the Palm in a couple of weeks so I will try to see exactly where this is located. The website is here.

Paris

Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero

Hilton is under-represented in Paris so this is a welcome addition, especially as I have been impressed by what I have seen of the new Canopy brand so far. Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero is set to opens its doors in March 2021, with the 123-room hotel featuring period architecture. Situated in the 16th arrondissement, it features a rooftop terrace and bar with sweeping views of the Eiffel Tower. The website is here.

Croatia

Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort and Spa

Nestled on the Adriatic coast, the new Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa is a sea-front wellness resort, with a spa, heath club and Olympic sized swimming pool. Guests have access to a private sandy beach and six on-site restaurants, including a beach bar and rooftop restaurant overlooking the Adriatic. Opening June 2021 but note that a seven night minimum stay is required until mid September. It looks like an excellent use of points at 60,000 points per night or €530+ in August. The website is here.

Cancun

Waldorf Astoria Cancun

Hilton is set to open two new properties in Quintana Roo in late 2021. The high end option is Waldorf Astoria Cancun, a 150-room resort offering waterfront views, mangrove-facing terraces and private balconies. There will also be an adjacent Hilton. There is no website yet.

Lisbon

The Emerald House Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton

The Emerald House Lisbon is apparently well placed for most of the city’s top attractions and the historical districts of Chiado and Baixa. The 67-room boutique hotel promises interiors styled to reflect the elegant neighbourhood. There is no website yet.

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

  • Simon Barlow says:

The Snowdon option will be fab for anyone wanting to visit the area. Nothing else from a major brand comes close, geographocally speaking. Probably Chester.

    • Anna says:

I was just thinking exactly that. Although it’s called Snowdonia it actually looks to be close to Conwy and Llandudno so very accessible. I’m going to see if it’s bookable yet!

    • Charlieface says:

I think after Aviemore closed it is now the only chain hotel in a National Park

  • Michael C says:

“Emerald House Lisbon is apparently well placed …”

…meaning of course, it’s not. It’s more like in the redeveloped dock area.

  • Anna says:

Booked the HGI Snowdonia for July next year for 28k points pn, bargain. Both cash and points rates seem to fluctuate quite a lot – it’s 40k pn on the opening weekend in March but I suppose that might coincide with some schools’ Easter holidays.

    • Travel Strong says:

All dates in calendar showing sold out for me! (website on internet explorer, will try app later)

      • Travel Strong says:

Ignore this comment. I’m 100% sure its me / my PC as every hotel is failing to show availability now!

  • Nigel says:

I’m amazed that Hilton left the Conrad Etihad Towers off that list! They took over management of the ex Jumeirah property in October. I had a booking there for February (COVID restrictions permitting) and I’m just trying to rebook at the Jumeirah Saadiyat Island property. Jumeirah hadn’t even bothered to advise me despite being Gold with Jumeirah One.

  • martyn ford says:

Which airport does one use for Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort and Spa? Thanks.

    • Graeme says:

Rijeka (Krk Island) would be a good shout 🙂

Pula or Trieste a bit futher away.

    • pauldb says:

LJU?! In all seriously I wondered if it makes a good combination for some beach time after the mountains of Slovenia. But does anyone know the location: maybe be Rijeka is central-but-not-near-enough to the best bits of Istria, the islands and Plitvice.

      • Michael Jennings says:

Depends which islands. The most famous ones are further south, but Krk Island is pleasant. It’s more rural and rustic that a place to go party, but that’s a matter of taste. Rijeka is a port city more than a tourist destination – although I rather like it – but the grand Austro-Hungarian Empire resort city of Opatija is just a few miles round the coast from it. In fact, looking at a map this hotel seems closer to Opatija than Rijeka. Plitivice is a couple of hours drive away. It could certainly be done as a day trip from there and I am sure there are tours that the hotel would offer or know about.

      • RussellH says:

Ljubljana is well worth a visit in its own right too, though the airport is quite some way away. About half way between the city and Bled, IIRC.

If the number of signposts for the Rijeka-Krk airport from the main roads around Rijeka are anything to go by, it cannot be that small. My road map shows a motorway spur to the airport is planned too. Rijeka is quite a big place, and by far the largest port in Croatia. I would have thought the city to be somewhat too industrialised to be much of a tourist destination, though it is somewhere I have only ever driven though.

  • Anna says:

    HH points not posted again!

    • RussellH says:

      +1
There would appear to be a major problem with points from third parties posting to Hilton at present.
Transfers from e-Rewards have been taking around 3-4 months plus constant nagging of e-Rewards CS (which seems to have actually improved recently) before they turn up, and now the last two months from Visa.
No problems with Amex, though (yet). The full 5 HH points per 2 Amex points posted within 3 days recently.

      • Rhys says:

I had to chase my recent rental car bonus too, but Hilton CS sorted pretty much immediately with no fuss.

    • martyn ford says:

I rang this morning and was on hold for 34 minutes. Once connected I spoke to a lady who sounded as though she was underwater in a swimming pool and she put the `phone down after 30 seconds. I shall pause for a while before trying again.

      • Rhys says:

If it’s not urgent I would just use the email, much less hassle

        • martyn ford says:

The message facility within my Barclaycard app isn`t working. I`m receiving multiple message notifications that do not appear.

  • Graham Smith says:

Seems from the link re Portugal hotels that one of the three Hilton are opening will be in the Lisbon area, Cascais actually, nevertheless please do an update when the relevant website opens up Am going to Portugal in October and staying somewhere in the Lisbon area for a couple of nights – unless you’ve got a recommendation from your travels??

    • Rob says:

InterCon Estoril well regarded and close to the rail station for the short hop into Lisbon.

    • Michael C says:

Don’t know your “needs”, Graham, but Heritage Avenida Liberdade is lovely and in a great location for walking.

  • DB2020 says:

Persian Gulf, not Arabian Gulf. Unless the site is now targeted at our friends across the pond. 😉
