New American Express hotel cashback deals launched

Two new American Express hotel cashback offers have launched, which gives some hope that the floodgates may open as we approach 17th May.

The first is with Hyatt, and it is a good one.

You will receive £100 cashback on a £250 spend at a participating Hyatt property. The deal runs until 31st August so there is plenty of time to use it. It is valid for the first 40,000 people to register.

It is restricted to selected European hotels, although most of my favourites are there including Park Hyatt Hamburg, Grand Hyatt Berlin, Hyatt Centric Madrid (reviewed here) and the reborn Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, below. The new Malta hotel is NOT included.

All of the UK hotels are there, except for the new Hyatt Place in the City which won’t open for a few weeks. It does not include Small Luxury Hotels unfortunately.

Even better, you can double up with the excellent Hyatt Prive offers that our luxury travel agent partner Emyr Thomas can get you. These include upgrades CONFIRMED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. You can read more about Hyatt Prive, and how to contact Emyr, here.

The second offer is with Leading Hotels of the World.

You will receive £100 cashback on a £350+ stay at a participating Leading Hotels of the World property for stays up to 31st August.

Hotels across Europe are included with nine in the UK. The only one outside London is Gleneagles, which we reviewed here (summary: it’s great).

There is an interesting quirk here. Because you are paying at check-out, you don’t actually need to book via LHW. You may want to, but it isn’t necessary. You could book a special ‘added value’ package via Emyr and still get the benefits.

There are even a few branded hotels on the list including a couple of Melia properties such as Palacio De Los Duques in Madrid – we reviewed Palacio De Los Duques here. You could book directly via Melia on a ‘pay on departure’ rate, get your MeliaRewards points and benefits and still get the cashback.

If you sign up for free membership of LHW’s Leaders Club (LHW is currently waiving the $175 membership fee as a special offer) then you will get an even better deal, as your Leaders Club benefits will stack with the cashback.
