Hilton loses its ski hotel in Kitzbuhel, Austria

Less than three years after it joined, Hilton’s ‘Curio Collection‘ of independent hotels is losing the Grand Tirolia Hotel Kitzbuhel, above.

This is a shame, because there are a real lack of ski and alpine hotels in Europe where you can redeem points

Grand Tirolia was an existing hotel which came under new ownership and decided to link with Curio.  The hotel spa includes indoor and outdoor heated pools, 11 treatment rooms and six saunas and is adjacent to the 18-hole Eichenheim golf course.  It would have worked well for either a ski holiday or a summer hiking break.

The hotel isn’t closing, of course, but from 15th May it will no longer be associated with Hilton. Existing redemption bookings are likely to be cancelled. Cash bookings should be OK but you may want to contact the hotel and discuss whether they are still prepared to honour your Hilton status benefits.

PS. There are two more upcoming departures from Hilton.

Millennium Times Square New York leaves on 17th May. It’s not clear if Millennium will continue to run it as part of its own brand.

In Italy La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena, Curio Collection, will leave on 31st July.
