IHG has launched a new hotel cashback deal with American Express.

If you targetted, you will see this deal under the ‘Offers’ tab for one or more of your Amex cards on the statement page. You need to opt-in. 70,000 registrations will be accepted which is almost triple what we saw when a similar deal ran earlier in the year.

I had it on my British Airways American Express Premium Plus card but not my Platinum card. My wife had it on her Preferred Rewards Gold card but not her British Airways card. Check whatever cards you have …. except Marriott Bonvoy ones, of course!

Holiday Inn Express Wandsworth cashback offer

Here is the deal:

  • receive £70 back when you spend £300 (cumulative)
  • spend must be made by 31st December
  • only valid at selected European hotels

The list of participating hotels is here (PDF).

Note that the list is actually two lists lumped together. The first page lists all of the luxury properties, and then restarts (with ‘A’ for ‘Austria’) for the mass market hotels. At least, this time, the luxury hotels are listed first and not put on the back page where no-one would have seen them.

Participating brands include Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, voco, Staybridge Suites, InterContinental, Regent and Kimpton.

voco St David’s Cardiff is pictured below. The slightly less enticing Holiday Inn Express London Wandsworth is pictured above and is included – whoever took that photograph deserves an award for making it look good ….

Don’t forget to register for IHG’s autumn bonus points offer too

You can also take part in IHG’s autumn bonus points promotion. It ends on the same day as this cashback offer – 31st December.

IHG One Rewards is offering 2,000 bonus points for every two cash nights you stay before 31st December.

Registration is required which you can do here. Existing bookings DO count. The nights do not need to be consecutive.

Let’s assume that an IHG One Rewards point is worth 0.4p (which we usually say it is). This means that you’d be averaging a £4 bonus per night – not worth getting too excited about, but throw in £70 of American Express cashback on top and you have a decent deal.

Our full article on the autumn IHG One Rewards offer is here. You can register for bonus points here.

The IHG home page for bookings is here.

Both the American Express cashback offer and the autumn bonus points offer run until 31st December. Register now because it will disappear from cards when the 70,000 registrations target is hit.
