Marriott Bonvoy is offering 1,000 bonus points per night and double elite night credits on stays between 13th February and 29th April. Click here to read more and click here to register.

Keep up to date with new hotel offers by signing up for our free daily or weekly newsletters.

Marriott Bonvoy has launched a new bonus points promotion, starting in mid September and running for three months.

It isn’t hugely generous BUT it has virtually no small print and no silly restrictions, so there’s nothing to complain about.  If you tend to do one-night stays in the cheaper brands it could work out nicely.

You must register via this link.

How many bonus Bonvoy points do I earn?

You earn 1,500 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per stay.

Note that this is per stay and not per night. There is no limit to the number of times you can earn the bonus, although it is not generous enough to justify changing hotels each night on a longer stay.

There is an additional bonus of 3,000 points on stays at all-inclusive resorts.

What are the key dates?

The offer runs from 14th September to 12th December.

You MUST register via this link before your stay.

Registration closes early on 28th November.

Existing bookings DO count – there is no need to rebook.  Reward bookings do not count

Marriott Bonvoy Autumn 2021 bonus points offer

Is this a good offer?

It’s not life-changing, but as every cash stay, every brand and every country are participating, Marriott Bonvoy has at least made it easy.  You don’t need to rebook anything and there is no silly ‘starting with your 2nd stay’ rule.

I value a Marriott Bonvoy point at 0.5p.  This means that the bonus is worth £7.50 per stay

£7.50 is not a terrible return if you are doing cheap one night stays – on a £75 bill it is another 10% back on top of your base points and any elite bonus.  It is clearly a bad return if you are doing five nights for £3,000 at the St Regis Mallorca, reviewed here.

1,500 points is better than nothing, of course, so you should definitely sign up if you think you may have any Marriott stays over the three month promotion period.

You can register, and find out more, on this page of the Marriott website.

  • Harry T says:

I’m still confused about how Marriott wants to use promotions – this one is clearly not about incentivising high spend as it is a very poor return on expenditure at their higher end hotels. It seems to be aimed at their road warrior crowd who do lots of cheap one night stays. I’m sure cleverer people than me have been involved in this but it does seem like now would be a good time to incentivise high spending leisure travellers, as business travel is likely to be curtailed for some time.

    • Peter K says:

Perhaps they feel those generally loyal to Marriott with enough money to stay at high end properties will stay anyway, without a promotion.
It’s possible that they feel the low end hotels are struggling more and need the boost?

    • David says:

This plus 241 elite qualifying nights would work.

    • MisterE says:

I have been quite impressed with a current promotion I have for double (base) points for weekend stays. 15,000 points so far, with several more stays planned during the promotion period.

As for comments down thread, I have consistently had problems registering promotions for at least a couple of years. Seems that BA’s IT is not the only one that needs improving. 😂

      • Harry T says:

I wonder who I have to kill or sleep with to get a targeted promotion… currently on 92 nights in 2021 and maybe that’s the problem. Mind you, I also received nothing when I didn’t stay with Marriott from December to June.

  • Jack Taylor says:

It’s not working for me, I just get the following error:

Please correct the following and try again.
Unfortunately, we cannot register you for this promotion, but if you call our Guest Services number, we would be happy to answer any question you have. Call 800-450-4442 In the United States and Canada, or one of our worldwide numbers.

    • Oh! Matron! says:

      Nor I:

We’re sorry, but there was an error in directing you to this promotion.

The reason for this error could be:

You’re trying to access a miles promotion and are a points-earner, or vice versa
You are not eligible for this promotion
      This promotion has expired

      • Magic Mike says:

        +1 same error for me

      • John says:

Same error for me – I found that I did have miles earning activated in my account profile (don’t recall switching it on, but it was definitely set). Once I deactivated that (selecting points instead), the promotion was added to my account without issue.

    • KBuffett says:

      Not working for me

    • Tariq says:

Managed to register with one click in the app okay

    • Harry T says:

Give it 24 hours and it’ll probably work.

    • WaynedP says:

Has just worked seamlessly for me (21:03).

Haven’t tried before now though, only just had a chance to read HfP since this morning.

  • N says:

Half an opportunity there if it worked with reward stays. Alas no!

  • E says:

I don’t know that Marriott picked up the ‘register by a certain date’ before the end of the promotion trick from Hyatt. Marriott has been doing this for many years with their promotions. It’s only in the last few years that Marriott has done anything different.

I think that over the last couple of years they’ve been taking a ‘friendlier’ approach as they absorbed the SPG members (and also Covid then kicked in). Now many of these original SPG high stayers (outside the UK anyway) have jumped to Hyatt, Marriott may have decided they may as well revert to type.

That would also fit with them going back to focus on rewarding frequent lower end stays rather than a longer high end one. Many of the high end properties (Luxury Collection, St Regis, even W which isn’t really high end) came from Starwood so it’s not been Marriott’s heartland.

  • E says:

At least they haven’t made their promotion bonus only count from the second stay (or even the third one which was the case for one promotion). But it’s not a big enough incentive to encourage staying at a Marriott for most people I think.

  • Neil says:

Their terms states a stay is consecutive nights regardless if check out / check in so 2 nights in a property required for a stay?

    • JAXBA says:

I see what you mean, but I don’t think that means a minimum of two nights required for the promotion but that even if you have two consecutive reservations it will only count as one stay and one bonus (which is normal for most hotel promotions, so that reservations aren’t broken up into one night each to game the promo).

I think they would state ‘minimum 2 night stay required’ if that were the case.

      • TGLoyalty says:

Exactly it’s saying checking out then in on the same day is a single stay.

  • Tariq says:

Got a one night stay already booked, check-in 13th of September, check out 14th of September. Presumably this one will not count for this promo.

  • Ian M says:

Very disappointing from Marriott. I’ve just requalified for Ambassador so I’ll look to put all my stays for the rest of the year Hilton’s way whenever possible as their promo rewards spend not mattress hopping
