Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn 50 Nectar points (31 Avios) per £1 at eBay this lunchtime

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A quick reminder that, if you are targeted, Nectar and eBay are running their slightly crazy Black Friday offer today.

For one hour – between noon and 1pm today (Friday) – you will receive 50 Nectar points per £1 you spend.

This offer only seems to be available via the Nectar app under ‘Partner Offers’, although not for everyone. If you don’t see it in the app, try registering via this page of the Nectar website.

The base earning rate at eBay is 1 Nectar point (0.625 Avios) per £1 spent. With this offer, you would receive 50 Nectar points worth 31.25 Avios per £1 spent.

Importantly, as with all recent Nectar / eBay offers, there is a cap of 300 base Nectar points per transaction. This means that you will only earn the bonus on the first £300 you spend. Your Nectar earning is capped at (£300 x 50) 15,000 points which would convert into 9,375 Avios.

If you value an Avios at 1p, you are getting a 31% rebate on your spending.

What is the small print?

Before you can earn Nectar points from eBay, you need to link your Nectar and eBay accounts via the link on this page and register for the offer via the Nectar app.

There is a £10 minimum spend required. Only ‘Buy It Now’ items will qualify.

You can only earn the bonus on one ITEM. It isn’t clear what happens if you put multiple items in your basket.

The standard eBay rules on excluded categories will apply. Full details of excluded categories are here.

The eBay home page is here. You can find out more about the Nectar partnership, and link your card, on this special eBay page.

  • LST says:

Saved the offer yesterday, it’s not there today 🙁

  • Chris says:

I’m the same it was saved in my nectar account and not showing now

my eBay nectar calculation is also 5x 😔

  • Oh! Matron! says:

ebay was VERY clear: It’s one item ONLY.

Got 7900 points for my AppleTV purchase. That’s like a million quid, or something!

(£40, actually, but better than a quick in the proverbials)

    • Duncan says:

Looks like if you purchase 2 x of the same item from the same seller, this is OK. Seems to have tracked OK for me, but we’ll see if they pay. If I get only bonus for one of them I’ll still be happy. 🙂

      • Al Waterson says:

Yeah I got 3 of the same £99.99 lego set after initially only wanting 1 for my bro’s Christmas present… tried it with 3 for a laugh and the points went up so I did £299 purchase for nearly full whack points.

  • Iain says:

Like most here had to reload offer but just picked up 14,500 on a disxcretionary but needed purchase!

  • Peter K says:

Got an easy 15000 points on essential work equipment. Cheaper to buy on eBay as well. Best thing is, the nectar points are not a discount so I can write off the full cost as a legitimate business expense 😄
Thanks for flagging this up Rob!

    • TEA says:

Hi, could you please advise if you had to order on your own account or your company account, ie did you have to set up a separate eBay account in the name of your company? I also bought something as a business expense but as I did it for the first time, just wanted to make sure I did it right. Thanks!

  • Odd says:

The offer was on my Nectar app yesterday, and I saved it, but when I opened the app today, my ‘saved offers’ was empty. I made an E-Bay purchase particularly to take advantage of this, but it looks like now it won’t earn any (more) Nectar points?

    • Nige says:

I had the same problem, and got an unfortunately long call at 12 which meant I only had 5 mins to try and sort it out. Couldn’t find the item (from Argos on Ebay) and check out by 1pm which has cost me 9,801 nectar points :(……strangely, when I looked at 1.20pm after having ordered it on Argos direct, it’s back on the ebay site to purchase.

  • Babyg says:

15000 points – new kids bike, thanks Rob and team… this was the best black Friday deal for me..

  • Andy H says:

The joys of having my wife’s birthday just after Black Friday. Something for her, something for me – everyone’s a winner! 😂
