Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn 50 Nectar points (31 Avios) per £1 at eBay this lunchtime

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A quick reminder that, if you are targeted, Nectar and eBay are running their slightly crazy Black Friday offer today.

For one hour – between noon and 1pm today (Friday) – you will receive 50 Nectar points per £1 you spend.

This offer only seems to be available via the Nectar app under ‘Partner Offers’, although not for everyone. If you don’t see it in the app, try registering via this page of the Nectar website.

The base earning rate at eBay is 1 Nectar point (0.625 Avios) per £1 spent. With this offer, you would receive 50 Nectar points worth 31.25 Avios per £1 spent.

Importantly, as with all recent Nectar / eBay offers, there is a cap of 300 base Nectar points per transaction. This means that you will only earn the bonus on the first £300 you spend. Your Nectar earning is capped at (£300 x 50) 15,000 points which would convert into 9,375 Avios.

If you value an Avios at 1p, you are getting a 31% rebate on your spending.

What is the small print?

Before you can earn Nectar points from eBay, you need to link your Nectar and eBay accounts via the link on this page and register for the offer via the Nectar app.

There is a £10 minimum spend required. Only ‘Buy It Now’ items will qualify.

You can only earn the bonus on one ITEM. It isn’t clear what happens if you put multiple items in your basket.

The standard eBay rules on excluded categories will apply. Full details of excluded categories are here.

The eBay home page is here. You can find out more about the Nectar partnership, and link your card, on this special eBay page.

  • PL says:

Got a Dyson hairdryer for the Mrs using the offer and BAPP card. Nice haul of Avios

  • adil says:

Saved the offer, on the product page it said that I’ll earn 15,000 points. After buying the item got an email saying You collected 1,500 Nectar points. Hm

    • Craig says:

Screenshot the checkout page, that’s where the bonus is shown.

      • Spurs drive me mad says:

That’s exactly what I’ve done for my 5750 points. One Italian black slate hearth on its way. Plus 6% cash plus the amex points.

    • zal says:

Not sure if you saved it to your Nectar card a few days ago, but I did and then found it had disappeared today so had to resave it before making my Ebay purchase. Seemed kinda sneaky to me.

    • stevenhp1987 says:

My email also only shows base points.

Go to “Nectar” page on ebay.

It shows a transaction history. It’s showing the bonus points for me there.

      • IH says:

Thanks to stevenhp1987 for pointing that out bonus points are shown on the Ebay nectar page. My bonus points were shown at checkout, but not in the email confirmation.

      • Ian says:

        Yep, mine’s there too.
Into the Nectar account, and scroll down to the transactions.
        Yay!

  • Oliver says:

Worked for me, £150 on a car seat it said at checkout you will earn 7450odd points

  • Craig says:

Points displayed in checkout, £240 of things we were going to buy anyway. 12000 Nectar points.

  • Lee says:

New mobile phone for daughter, reduced by £70 anyway, and 15,000 Nectar points, too. That’ll do,

  • Gavin says:

I could only think of a £6 book I needed from eBay so I unsaved the 5x and 50x offers and used a 1000 bonus point offer instead which had a £5 minimum spend.

35 mins to think of something else I might need from eBay!

    • Gavin says:

Opted for 96 bog roll for £25 and 1250 nectar. Alas no need for any expensive devices currently.

      • Rob says:

Expensive devices for cleaning your bum?

        • Spurs drive me mad says:

I’m renovating my house and have turned a bedroom into a luxury bathroom that includes a bidet toilet like the Japanese have. I’ll never worry about the great loo roll shortage ever again.

        • Gavin says:

Probably need a specialist website for that!

  • John says:

Bought £300 in cash for £344 and 17200 nectar, let’s see what happens

    • Peter K says:

This doesn’t sound right as the max points you could earn was 15000 on this offer…

  • James says:

Big thanks for highlighting this to me. Been looking to get an xbox for christmas, and was able to get it for £260. Sadly this is very slightly over RRP, but given ebay have confirmed 13K nectar, I think it works out.
