News in brief:

Earn triple Avios at Bicester Village

If you are planning a shopping trip to the Bicester Village designer outlet in Oxfordshire in the near future, you can can pick up triple Avios with your shopping.

The standard earning rate for Avios at Bicester Village is 5 Avios for every £4 you spend. During this promotion you will earn 15 Avios for every £4 you spend.

You may also find that you have a generous Bicester Village cashback offer available, either via American Express or any Visa or Mastercard you have. This will stack with the bonus Avios.

(You may even be able to triple dip if you have an affinity offer which gets you a 10% VIP discount card, such as the one given to American Express Platinum or HSBC Jade customers. Simply show your card at Guest Services.)

Full details of the offer can be found here.

Make sure you understand the process for claiming your Avios. You need to submit copies of your receipts via email on the same day that you make your purchases.

Plaza Premium promotion for American Express Platinum cardholders

If you are travelling through Heathrow Terminal 2, Heathrow Terminal 5 or Gatwick North over Christmas, your best bet for an independent airport lounge is probably Plaza Premium.

Here is our latest review of Plaza Premium Heathrow Terminal 2 and our latest review of Plaza Premium Heathrow Terminal 5. We haven’t reviewed the new Gatwick lounge yet (which is the old Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse) but Sinead has been and recommends it.

Whilst Plaza Premium is no longer part of Priority Pass, you can get access for yourself and a guest by showing an American Express Platinum charge card at the door.

From 13th December to 1st January, Plaza Premium is also allowing American Express Platinum cardholders to bring in one child (under 12 years of age) for free.

This won’t benefit everyone – if your partner has a supplementary Platinum card on your account you can already get four people in between you – but will benefit those with three children or an adult travelling alone with two children.
