British Airways launches flights to Nuremberg

In a slightly unexpected new route announcement, British Airways is launching a year-round service to Nuremberg. Nuremberg is Bavaria’s second largest city after Munich

Pre-covid this had operated for a couple of years as a Winter-only route from Gatwick, aimed at visitors to the Christmas Markets, but was then dropped. It is slightly odd to see it at the top of the ‘new routes’ list, especially as Germany continues to have tighter covid restrictions than other European countries.

This will be a Heathrow Terminal 3 route, which is good news for anyone keen to repeat Rhys’s recent lounge tour.

British Airways launching flights to Nuremberg

Flights start on 27th March with four flights flights per week. This ramps up to six flights per week (no service on Saturday) from 1st May for the rest of the Summer season.

It is a 3pm-ish departure from Heathrow Terminal 3 – the exact time varies by day – with a 5.30pm-ish return from Nuremberg.

For the Winter season, starting 30th October, everything changes. The service drops to four flights per week, and it becomes an early morning 8.45am departure, returning at 11.15am.

Flights are already bookable, for cash or Avios, at ba.com.

Nuremberg is home to the Playmobil fun park and I think there’s also a Playmobil hotel. It looks quite low key but probably fun for under 8s
