How to earn Avios points with NH Hotels and nhow

This article looks at how to earn Avios points from stays at NH Hotels and nhow.

It is now a decade since Avios was launched and the British Airways and Iberia loyalty schemes given the same ‘currency’.

Whilst efforts have been made to unify the different partners who work with each programme, it has been a slow process.  It was only fairly recently that Iberia started working exclusively with Avis as its car hire partner, for example.

One area where there is still inconsistency is with hotel partners.  There are still some groups which partner with Iberia Plus but not with British Airways Executive Club.

The list is shrinking to be fair.  Melia is now a British Airways partner, whilst Iberostar recently pulled out of Iberia Plus.

This leaves NH Hotels as the core chain which only works with Iberia Plus.

Full details of all Iberia hotel partners can be found here.  Ensure you look on the Spanish site (with ‘English’ as language) because for some reason the English site shows fewer partners.

The NH Hotels website is here.

Earning Avios with NH Hotels

NH Hotels is one of those niche European hotel chains that is rarely seen in the UK (although there is one in London) but crops up quite frequently on the continent.

As well as the main NH Hotels brand, the group also includes the funky nhow chain which also has a London outpost.

The standard earning rate with NH Hotels and nhow is shown here at iberia.com.  You earn between 200 and 450 Avios per night depending on the quality of the hotel.

Note that, until 30th April 2022, there is a triple Avios offer running.

To earn Avios at NH Hotels, you need to open an Iberia Plus account at iberia.com and give that number to the hotel.  British Airways Executive Club numbers are not accepted

Once the Avios arrive in your Iberia Plus account, you can transfer them to BA using the ‘Combine My Avios’ feature online.  Note that Iberia accounts must be 90 days old before you can use ‘Combine My Avios’. This HfP article explains in detail how ‘Combine My Avios’ works and how to work around any IT bugs.

You can no longer redeem Avios directly at NH Hotels. Whilst iberia.com says that you can, if you click through the link you will find that you are directed to the generic ‘pay with Avios’ hotel booking site. This is poor value and not recommended.

You can find out more about NH Hotels on their website here.

What happened to NH Hotels becoming part of the GHA discovery programme?

I’m trying to get my Iberia Avios across, without any luck. The latest error message I get is that my details don’t match. Adding my home address on my Iberia profile seems to be impossible, as the postcode field only takes numbers. Any ideas how to set up matching accounts? Avios.com to BA works well.
