SUN-AIR to resume franchised British Airways flights to Billund

SUN-AIR, the airline which operates British Airways flights out of Denmark under a franchise agreement, is returning to the skies.

The route from London City Airport to Billund (home of LEGOLAND, and indeed the LEGO HQ) will restart on 5th September.

According to a statement on their website:

At last, we have a date to re-open! On 5 September 2022 we will restart our route between Billund and London City following the routes suspension as the result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are so excited to offer you a direct route between Billund and London City again and welcoming you back on board. The route starts up with six weekly rotations from Monday to Thursday with morning and evening flights and with SUN-AIR’s well-known high level of service before, during and after the flight.

We are extremely proud of our franchise partnership with British Airways and are thrilled that we are soon back in the sky with our Dornier 328 Jet painted in the British Airways colors.

We can’t wait to see you on board and wish you a nice summer.

The other UK route – from Manchester to Billund – remains suspended, as do the routes from Billund to Brussels and Oslo.

Tickets on the London City route are now bookable for cash (full fare only at present) and Avios. It isn’t clear if British Airways will continue its own mainline Billund service from Heathrow.

    Just had my itinerary changed by Flybe as they’ve cancelled my booked flight. The alternative they have proposed doesn’t work for me so I declined it, then went to cancel my booking for a refund. I can do this online but it seems that they are not going to refund my additional charges for checked baggage and seat selection. Surely this isn’t right as they have cancelled my flight?!

      They don’t seem to understand the consumer rights act 2015.

      And little do they know, apparently, if their proposition not to return baggage or seat fees paid on a flight the airline cancelled, is that your full refund is only Round 1.

      Round 2 is your request for £220 or 250 Euros compensation. It sounds like they won’t be expecting that either.

        As the flight is more than 14 days in advance of them cancelling it, I don’t think I’m entitled to any compensation unfortunately.

      Have had same done to me flight cancelled new one didn’t suit but only cost of flight refunds not payment for baggage surly this isn’t right if they did this with ever flight there would be no need for them to fly they would be pounds in

    Although, I suspect BA have bigger concerns at the moment…

    Not on their list but they have cut LHR-LBA from 3pd to 1pd for the rest of the season – and nothing yet on sale for the winter. This route was only ever going to work with (i) a schedule that allowed daytrips and (ii) interline/codeshare agreements with long haul carriers at Heathrow. They have now lost the former and I’m not sure they ever had the latter?

      They had codeshares with AF and BA prior to their folding; I once flew back from Tunisia via CDG to Exeter with them.

    How could “new Flybe” not have aircraft? Where are all the Dash-8s from “old Flybe”? I’m sure Dave Pflieger knows what he’s doing but if aircraft aren’t in the sky, they aren’t making any money. I know I am being cynical, but I’m looking at the cancelled routes and perhaps these “deferred deliveries” are convenient.

      You would assume that he’d either got a signed contract or he hasn’t. Clearly the lessor found a better home for the aircraft for the Summer season.

        I did think they would tell you who it was in the confirmation email to be honest 🙂 I suppose they think the free food and drink means you come out on top irrespective of the miles.

      Who does one ask for at the venue to be directed to the the right place? And is it a 1.5hour thing that you need to attend from start to finish, or is it pop in at some point during the time frame?

        I hope all your questions were resolved as soon as you entered the hotel and re your second question they told you in advance that you can drop by when you can.

        I turned up for my 08.30-09.30 session at 9am and stayed until 9.45am. No-one said anything as it was very informal and cosy.

        Thanks to everyone at United and HfP for organising this! Was expecting Rhys to be there as well but he wasnt’ there…
