A new mini-promotion was launched yesterday for British Airways American Express cardholders.

It seems to be open to both free and Premium Plus cardholders although registrations will be capped at 40,000 people.

It’s actually quite generous …..

Get 2,000 bonus Avios with a new British Airways American Express promotion

If you have the Premium Plus card, you will receive 2,000 bonus Avios from American Express when you spend £200 before 2nd September with British Airways.

The spend can be cumulative.

Whilst the small print is not clear, I would expect BA Holidays spend to count too as it goes through statements as ba.com.

2,000 bonus Avios – worth around £20 – is a decent dent in £200 of spending.

Holders of the free British Airways American Express card get a weaker offer. These people will receive 1,000 bonus Avios for spending £200 at ba.com.

You must register for the offer before making any transactions, via the BA Amex statement page on the American Express website or in the app.

Remember that the deal is restricted to 40,000 people, so I’d recommend saving it now even if you have no intention of using it for a few weeks.

  • strickers says:

    Not on my BAPP.

  • Jonny says:

I added it after booking a flight on BA. The transaction is still pending does anyone think it will be credited?

    • Pablo says:

No, it won’t trigger. You can cancel the ticket for free within 24 hours from booking for a full refund and rebook again. Need to call to cancel as if you cancel online you’ll only get the taxes back.

    • meta says:

95% it does if it was very soon after. If you added in the evening or the next day then it might not.

      • Jonny says:

It was probably 6 hours after. Annoyingly I usually check the offers every couple of days but didn’t this time. Don’t want to risk cancelling as I got the last 3 seats

    • Kevin says:

The transaction dare vs your saved offer date will be be the key as Amex id very goof on this afraid.

  • Thomas Atkins says:

This actually popped up yesterday so quota may already have been filled

    • Rich says:

Nope, still there, I just added it after seeing this article.

    • Sue Bentley says:

I just got the offer on my phone now. It says on the terms ‘Offer only available for the targeted recipient of this offer’ – maybe not everyone was targeted? It is open to 40,000 card members …..

  • Andrew J says:

It’s a good time to book any £200 flight within the next few weeks (after the booking window embargo), BA will extend its cancellation policy again, then cancel for a voucher.
