  • Andrew J says:

There are other variants of the Bicester Amex offer including spend £200 get £30 and spend £150 get £25. Don’t forget to also scan your Bicester membership at each shop to move up the tiers – after spending just £1000, you get a 3 course meal on your next visit.

  • Keith says:

There may also be some Amex offers with Avis. I can see a “spend £200, get 3,000 avios” offer on my BA Amex, although this expires in 4 days.

    • Keith says:

Just realised this will not stack as you need to book via BA for the offer above. Time for another coffee I think!

  • Mark Wilson says:

I think BA are being ridiculous in excluding certain business class fare buckets from Avios and tier point earning.
I’m now in dispute (again) with BA over missing Avios for a business class ticket issued by Qatar Airways, in R class.
One of my segments was operated by Malaysia Airlines, but ticketed with a QR codeshare flight number. BA have not issued Avios or tier points for this segment, in spite of appealing 3 months ago. MAS do not have an R class fare bucket as far as I can see, so I await the outcome of my claim. There were five of us travelling so I’m not giving up on my 20,000+ Avios.
Life really shouldn’t be this hard…..

    • Nick says:

It’s up to the operating carrier, not BA. If they’re not willing to pay for BA/AGL to issue Avios in the class you booked, then BA is not going to do it… why would they?

@Rob I have an EI booking where the fare class is detailed in the booking confirmation email. Did you not have the same? Am I somehow special? (Don’t answer that.) The email looks as if it was designed in 2001 so I doubt it’s a new development.

      • Rob says:

I take it back. It is on the final confirmation, but not (easily) visible during booking.

      • Mark Wilson says:

Because the class booked and ticketed ans an QR code share attracts Avios and TP?!

  • Joe says:

You could see if your daughters miles will credit to united

    • Jonathan says:

It’s fairly pointless if she doesn’t travel much with AerLingus / United Airlines / United Airlines’ other airline partners and Star Alliance airlines

Plus they might not allow youngsters to have loyalty accounts as well, I’m not sure though…

      • Joe says:

My daughter has and they don’t expire so 10k (assuming return versus single claimed) is worth having for a US domestic

  • Kev says:

Aer Lingus will show you the sub class of the ticket before you purchase. Click on Fare Rules in the “About Your Fare” section once ticket is selected. Scroll down to the bottom and it will display both the fare basis code and the Avios eligibility.

  • JoeMc says:

You can check your fare class on Aer Lingus before booking. It’s a bit hidden but basically after selecting your fare you scroll down and click a small link saying ‘fare rules’ and can check the code. It’s explained on the site somewhere and in flyertalk posts

    • Rob says:

It’s not meant to be difficult though!

      • Jonathan says:

Airlines seem to like hiding their fare codes if you’re looking at making a booking, or just like make you doing a lot of clicking around around

      • RussellH says:

I think that ought to read “Airlines ought (or better must) not make it that difficult. If we pay for a seat, we surely have every right to know what the class is, without a lot of faffing around.

      • JoeMc says:

        Absolutely I agree.

  • Declan says:

Doesn’t the booking confirmation email from Aer Lingus show the sub-class of your ticket? Under ‘status’ it shows the letter of the relevant class, followed by economy/business and then confirmed.

    • ADS says:

Yes, it is only the original booking confirmation email – follow up emails from Aer Lingus do NOT show it.

And it’s effectively hidden on the “status” line – it never actually says “booking class”

But yes, it is there if you know what to look for

  • Amit says:

Is there a link to register for ‘British Airways Executive Club members can save up to 20% off regular prices’

    • Rhys says:

      No, because you don’t register:

“You do not need to claim your miles in each individual store you visit. Instead, simply hold on to your receipts until the end of your shopping trip.

Once you’re done shopping for the day, go to the Village Welcome or Tourist Information Centre and present your Executive Club card (or proof of membership) plus shopping receipts to collect your Avios.”
