British Airways confirms return of full Club World meal service

  despite the complaints, don’t people think the (BA) food offering on board is better than what’s on offer in a (BA) lounge?

    Not sure – my last CW meal was a chicken and leek pie which was like something I’d expect in the pub (I wasn’t in the mood for the curry or veggie options), but in Galleries North a couple of weeks ago I had a pretty decent Thai green curry, salad and coffee with delicious oaty/ginger biscuits afterwards (hopefully they are phasing out the Tesco value biscuit selection!). All washed down with a very nice Antipodean Sauvignon Blanc (can’t remember if it was Aussie or Kiwi but it was good). Well, I didn’t wash the coffee down with wine, but you get my drift.

    Food is hit and miss on-board and in the lounges. On-board, if it’s Do&Co, it tends to be decent, but if they’re using Gategourmet on the route, then it can be atrocious. In the lounges, I find the food to be about par for the course – this morning’s T5N breakfast “sausage” was dry and cardboard like. I never find their lounge food that decent, so tend to agree given you’ve got a 50%+ chance of Do&Co onboard.

    BA only allows Avios upgrades by one class so you’d a) need a cash ticket in World Traveller Plus / Premium Economy and b) there needs to be an Avios reward seat showing in Club World / business class.

    If you have a cash Economy ticket then you could only upgrade to Premium Economy, should an Avios seat be available.

    A cash upgrade offer may be available via Manage My Booking or at the airport, but unlikely to be at a price you’d want to pay.

  Returned (and went) business class to Orlando out on 10/10/2022 return 25/10/2022. Food on both trips awful, in fact so bad I asked what economy had. Only choice on main course which was mostly something you could buy in a chain pub on the £9.99 FOR 2 Lunch meal. Not impressed at all. Plus no lounge in Orlando term C.

  So can confirm return of full dining having flown to washington yesterday. Think it was causing delays (certainly at Heathrow) as loads of flights were delayed due to ‘waiting for catering facilities’. Cabin crew apologised on board as the food didn’t quite match the menu (not sure why on the first day!) But three choices for starters and mains and then a light meal before landing. Soup was very nice as was the short Rib. We had requested a dairy free meal but this request hadn’t made it and meant my wife couldn’t have 95% of food available!! Staff did their best to find her something. Overall was pleasantly surprised at the quality but do expect some teething problems as they resume the service!

    Is meal pre-selection from the menu back? Or is pre-ordering still limited to special meals?
