Groupon offering 50% off a Priority Pass lounge card

If you have been thinking of purchasing a Priority Pass airport lounge access card, Groupon has a deal running.  You will find it here.

It is a little fiddly.  You pay Groupon £7 to £11 for a voucher. 

The voucher entitles you to:

• 50% discount on Standard Membership (usually £69, pay £24 per visit)
• 50% discount on Standard Membership with first visit included (price not known)
• 20% discount on Standard Plus Membership with ten visits included, £24 thereafter (usually £229)

The discount is clearly not 50% since you are also paying £7 to £11 for the voucher.  You will make a saving, however.

This is one way of keeping hold of a Priority Pass if you are cancelling your American Express Platinum charge card, which comes with two free Priority Pass cards.  None of the paid versions of Prority Pass are actually as good as the Amex version, oddly, which gives unlimited free visits for the cardholder and a guest.

There have, of course, been a lot of issues over the past 12 months with overcrowding of Priority Pass lounges. This has mainly been a UK issue – in fact mainly a London issue – but it does mean that you may need to factor in an additional £6 per person reservation fee to use your pass at Heathrow or Gatwick.
