Feeling lucky?

An interesting event has just popped up on the Hilton Honors experiences website. The next ‘Secret Socials’ evening is here, on 13th June.

Is it worth a 35,000 points punt?

This is what it says:

Secret Socials is back! We are excited to bring our Hilton Honors members another music event in style!

Redeem your Hilton Honors Points to kick off the summer with an evening of fun for you and a guest! This once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Canopy by Hilton London City will include complimentary welcome drinks and canapes, followed by an intimate performance from a very special celebrity guest.

Experience for two (2):
– Two (2) Tickets to an Exclusive Music Performance by a Celebrity Guest at the Canopy London City
– Complimentary Welcome Drinks and Canapes

Previous performers at these events have included Kylie Minogie, Ellie Goulding and Stormzy. The HfP team was at the Stormzy concert in December at the Hilton London Metropole and it was a really good night. (We bought two tickets directly from the Hilton website at full price and were then gifted a third by Hilton’s PR team.)

Stormzy at Hilton concert

You may not be surprised to hear that Stormzy is not really my thing. However, the tickets did include unlimited champagne pre- and post-concert as well as substantial canapes (eg mini burgers) which made the evening well worth it.

Sinead and Rhys are big Stormzy fans – apparently this was the third time Sinead has seen him – and you can’t deny his influence on British rap. Sinead once saw him on the main stage at Glastonbury, so being on a sofa about 50 feet from the stage was a substantial change this time!

We honestly have no idea who is performing this time and as it clashes with a major industry event I won’t be there to find out. It may be worth a punt though.

Hilton is asking 35,000 points for two tickets which, on our 0.33p valuation, is roughly £100-worth. This is same cost as at Christmas.

Do you think they will rustle up a suitably big name, and one which you would actually want to sit through?

Up to you ….

However, you could get through £100 of free drinks and food between two of you at the pre- and post-event parties, so the odds are in your favour regardless. The Canopy, which is at Aldgate, is also a smart new hotel worth seeing – here is our review.

You can redeem on the Hilton Auctions platform here – search for UK events. There are ten pairs of tickets left at the time of writing – none have yet been redeemed.

Stormzy and his flop album? A good night? Classic!

  • babyg says:

Seemed like a decent use of 35k HHpoints, I tried and failed yesterday, when logging into the site I got “Error in the login process. Likely missing data. Please report this”. Not a bad gamble IMHO, and worst case if thea act isn’t great you get to trade points/printer cartridge stories with the other HfPointers there 🙂

  • Blair Waldorf Salad says:

Aha, this may explain Sonia’s Twitter account putting up a “watch this space” message for 13 June.

    • babyg says:

      Who?

    • Super Secret Stuff says:

That would be quite a step down… having said that I was gutted when I missed out on Stormzy, I randomly have 40k HH points, hmmm.

      • Rob says:

We’ve heard a rumour today which may or may not be true, but if it is true it is step above Stormzy and Ellie Goulding.

Also worth noting that Hilton is involved in Depeche Mode’s UK concert on 17th June (it is auctioning off tickets and a ‘meet and greet’) so there is an outside chance it is them. Timing is tight given they play Dublin on 14th June though.

        • Fazzy Bear says:

Is the rumour Depeche Mode or another artist?

        • KevinC says:

I’d be amazed (and delighted) if Depeche Mode agreed to play in a Hilton.

Secret Socials has been conjunction with the Universal Music Group so unless things have changed it is likely to be someone signed with them.

          • Rob says:

Perhaps our rumour is correct then – although UMG has such a huge market share it was odds on anyway ….

          • Fazzy Bear says:

Stormzy is with Warner or maybe Def Jam but defo not Universal, so perhaps that theory is out of the window.

          • KevinC says:

Def Jam is owned by Universal (like Capitol Records).

  • Chalky says:

Stormy is definitely via UMG although the first one, Kylie, is not.

    • KevinC says:

No, but Years and Years were joint headliners and they are UMG.

  • ianM says:

It’s pretty poor there is so little availability. The Jessie J gig at Abbey Road a few years back was a much better idea

    • Rob says:

To be fair there was zero availability for the first few gigs eg Kylie. Stormzy was the first one where the Honors team persuaded Hilton to hand over some tickets.

Remember that these events are done to produce ads for Hilton. They need an audience to film the ad but Hilton isn’t too bothered who it is.

      • Chalky says:

Yep, we are the hired help and we have to pay for the privilege but my experience at the Stormy was on a level that not all album launches reach when a label creates for the artist themselves so it is well worth paying for the privilege. Like lots of others, I had issues logging in but emailed the Honors Experience team to let them know of the issue so got a heads up rhe moment the error was fixed as they emailed me back once a remedy was in place…Which was very kind of them 😎
