Emirates is offering VIP packages for the BMW PGA tournament at Virginia Water in Surrey. The dates are Friday 15th to Sunday 17th September.

The cost, which won’t surprise anyone who tracks Emirates ‘experiences’ redemptions, is a scary 60,000 Skywards miles per ticket. For Sunday the price jumps to 70,000 miles.

I was shocked when Emirates wanted 50,000 miles per ticket last year, but this is a further 20% increase.

Even worse, you aren’t even told what the ‘VIP packages’ include.

To put this in comparison, I value an Emirates Skywards mile at 1p so, at 60,000 miles per ticket, you are giving up £1,200 of free flights for two VIP packages.

Last year Hilton Honors offered its own VIP packages. This were massively better value at 80,000 Hilton Honors points (which I’d value at £250) for two tickets. If Hilton pops up again with the same deal, you would be ‘paying’ literally 1/6th of what Emirates is asking!

Of course, so far, Hilton hasn’t popped up with any packages – and the ones offered last year disappeared incredibly quickly.

How to earn Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards (September 2024)

Emirates Skywards does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Emirates Skywards miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 4:3 into Emirates Skywards miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 0.75 Emirates Skywards miles. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it, with any airline.
