Priority Pass pre-booking now allowed at Stansted, Manchester, Bristol and East Midlands

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Manchester Airports Group, which owns London Stansted, Manchester and East Midlands Airports, will now allow you pre-book airport lounge access via a Priority Pass card. It is also offering it at Bristol Airport when it manages the two lounges.

DragonPass is also supported. Whilst LoungeKey is not named, the logo does appear so I assume this is also accepted.

This will, I’m sure, appeal to many readers who complain about the difficulty of using Priority Pass cards at these airports.

You need to prebook your lounge slot via the relevant airport website. There is a fee per guest, similar to the one that No1 Lounges and Club Aspire charge at Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham for a reservation.

  • Josh says:

Simply speaking, they have DEVALUED the Priority Pass card received with credit cards. soon everyone will pre-book and pay the fee. So is she use lounges 20 times a year just to so another 100 is the cost of your card renewal.

    • Lady London says:

yes American Express should stop promoting priority pass as a benefit immediately in the UK as it has close to zero value. It’s insulting and very, very close to misleading customers in the course of promoting a financial product when the ability to use it is severely restricted by the providing partners involved, this is well known and should be heavily discounted by any promoter and by Amex.

  • Chrisasaurus says:

It does feel as if Rob is in a different page to many here..

*Finally* the PP with the now £650 Amex plat is actually just the opportunity to pay for lounges?

    • BBbetter says:

You are taking it out of context.
Other lounge schemes allowed booking before arrival whereas the PP issues with Plat card didn’t so far.

      • Chrisasaurus says:

Not really. If the booking now allowed didn’t come with a charge then I’d agree but assuming you actually use this benefit – let’s say between 1/2 times a month, this is now a £100 a year cost to enter lounges you already paid for access to.

  • Mike says:

Lounges in the UK seem to be a licence to print money at the moment. Anyone fancy setting up a UK based lounge chain? I’ll Crowdcube you a grand.

    • Mike says:

…. A UK based and owned lounge chain is exactly what the article you are commenting on is about!

  • Mike says:

The article needs to be edited to remove the reference to the old Escape Lounge in Terminal 2 – this has definitely been closed and demolished.

Also the reference to 1903 in Terminal 3 should be edited – this is now rebranded as the Escape Lounge dedicated to lounge access card-holders only. The main Escape Lounge is now for direct payers.

    • Diydegsy says:

That’s not quite true as the current arrangement in T3 will finish in October so there will only be one escape lounge open I have been told by staff. Apparently this is because it’s less busier. It’s a shame as the current arrangement means every time I have used T3 there is no problem getting into the lounge.

      • TP Hunter says:

PP’s app does say that the PP-specific Escape lounge is only open April-October. A rather bizarre decision given that there are plenty of busy days in the winter months. Surely they’d just be better off combining the two?

    • Rob says:

      Thanks

  • Doowral says:

Would the payment of the £6 to reserve a lounge space at these airports include the fast track security, just like they do at the no1 lounges at Gatwick?

  • a270 says:

Silly question perhaps, but I had a Platinum card in the past and set up a Priority Pass account. Do I need to set up a new Priority Pass account for my new Platinum Card now or use the old one but give the new Platinum Card to scan. A bit confused as I was given a code to activate my previous Priority Pass account over the phone so don’t want to be turned back if it was linked to my old, cancelled Platinum. Thank you.

    • BBbetter says:

Always new PP cards or account. The old ones will stop working or result in a charge.

  • Paul says:

It’s a complete rip off when you’ve already paid for PP to then be charged a further fee. I haven’t encountered this practice anywhere else in the world. I have not renewed my PP subscription.

  • Susan Smith says:

I’m one for whom this would be a definite positive as Ryanair from STN is the only airline flying to my local airport. However I’ve just tried to book with PP for my next transit but was declined as “our lounge is full on your chosen date and time” but apparently not so full that I couldn’t have booked a full price £35.99 entry.

    • Ken says:

I suspect many will be ‘full’ to PP holders trying to book 2 months in advance , but availability may open up 10 days in advance
