We have been working with Hyatt to bring you details of 10 new World of Hyatt hotels opening in 2024 which would resonate with a UK audience. They chose well, and I think that most of you will find at least a couple of these properties tempting.

We ran similar articles earlier this week on 10 intriguing new Hilton hotels coming in 2024 and 10 intriguing new Marriott hotels coming in 2024.

Park Hyatt London

UK

Park Hyatt London River Thames

It’s finally happening. London is to get its first Park Hyatt. Located in Nine Elms / Vauxhall, this isn’t a neighbourhood that will be familiar for most tourists, although the new US Embassy and redevelopment of Battersea Power Station is certainly changing that. The Park Hyatt London River Thames will take up the lower 18 floors of a 42-storey tower currently under construction. An unconventional location and new build development suggest its success will all come down to the quality of the fit and finish, although I’m confident that Hyatt will be able to pull it off given my experience at other Park Hyatt hotels. Opening mid 2024. The hotel website is here.

Hyatt House Leeds hotel

Hyatt House, Leeds

Hyatt Place Leeds

Hyatt’s regional UK portfolio is a little thin, so it’s good to see it invest in a 305-room, dual-brand Hyatt House and Hyatt Place hotel in the Sovereign Square development in Leeds. Split between the short stay and long stay brands, the hotel is 12 storeys high and features a rooftop bar. Opening late 2024.

Zoetry Halkidiki

Greece

Zoëtry Halkidiki

Hyatt’s footprint of all-inclusive resorts is gaining Zoëtry Halkidiki in Greece. The radial 105-room resort sits atop a cliff with views of Mount Olympus and the Aegean Sea on the Halkidiki peninsula with access via a “panoramic lift” (funicular?) to the beach below. It is only the second of Hyatt’s Zoëtry all-inclusive resorts in Europe, with the first having opened in 2021 in Mallorca (the old Hilton site). Two restaurants, a buffet and three bars and lounges will keep fed and watered. Opening mid 2024. The hotel website is here.

Andaz Amsterdam

The Netherlands

Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht

Although not a new hotel, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsgengracht, which I reviewed in 2022, is in the process of getting a full refurbishment. It was an excellent hotel when I stayed, with lovely rooms and a gorgeous courtyard connecting the old Dutch buildings with a newer extension at the rear. We will have to wait and see what direction the refurbishment takes, but in the meantime you can read my review here.

Park Hyatt Marrakech

Morocco

Park Hyatt Marrakech

Better late than never …. the Park Hyatt is a holdover from our list last year, but has just opened in the last few days.

Part of the Al Maaden development outside of the Medina, the Park Hyatt offers a resort-style retreat 10-15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. True to its name, the resort will be surrounded by landscaping and what appears to be a large lake with a dramatic setting against the Atlas mountains. There are 181 rooms, built in clusters around common courtyards, as well as 45 private villas with private pools. Open now. The hotel website is here.

Thompson Palm Springs hotel

USA

Thompson Palm Springs

At least seven new Thompson hotels are expected to open in the next two years, and one of them will be the Thompson Palm Springs. Perched in the heart of the Design District in downtown Palm Springs, the hotel hopes to embrace the laid-back Palm Springs lifestyle with its own urban oasis. 168 rooms, of which 18 are suites, will look out towards the mountains, a view shared by the rooftop pool. Opening mid 2024. The hotel website is here.

Andaz Miami Beach hotel

Andaz Miami Beach

A 1940s icon, the Confidante Hotel Miami Beach is currently undergoing a $60m renovation that will see it emerge as Florida’s first Andaz. A new lobby will offer an ocean-view check-in experience whilst all guestrooms and public spaces are getting a full transformation. Located in mid beach, the hotel is easily accessible from the airport and a gateway to South Beach. Opening late 2024.

Hotel Toranomon Hills, The Unbound Collection

Japan

Hotel Toranomon Hills, The Unbound Collection

Part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection of boutique hotels, Hotel Toranomon is located in one of Tokyo’s newest business districts and within walking distance of the Imperial Palace. The 205 rooms are designed by Danish studio Space Copenhagen, fusing Danish and Japanese minimalism. 30 suites suites feature their own private Japanese onsens whilst the two duplex suites spread across two floors. Opened in December 2023. The hotel website is here.

Shanghai

Alila Shanghai

Having recently come back from a three night trip to Shanghai, and having read our review of Alila Jabal Akhdar in Oman, I’m intrigued by the Alila Shanghai. This will be a 188-room hotel in the Jing’an District of Shanghai. Alila is one of Hyatt’s smallest brands with just 18 hotels in seven countries currently operating; the hotel will be an “urban utopia” through its use of “natural materials, earth tones and charming city views”. Opens late 2024.

  • Gordon says:

Off to Kenya, Rwanda & Uganda for a safari in August, and also came across these.

Diamonds dream of Africa, 1st March 2024
Hyatt house Nairobi westlands, 1st March 2024
Hyatt place Nairobi westlands, 1st March 2024,
Hyatt Regency Nairobi westlands, Accepting stays from February 2024.

    • Luca M says:

@Gordon not sure if these will be managed by the same operator, but the. Park Hyatt in Zanzibar and Hyatt Regency Kilimanjaro in Dar es Salaam, in neighbouring Tanzania, are amongst my very favourite hotels in that part of the world.

      • Gordon says:

@Luca M That’s reassuring to know, I cannot wait to sample them. We were going to travel to Zanzibar in between our safaris but changed our plans and opted for Diani Beach in Mombasa.

  • KP says:

Booked to stay at PH Marrakech in March. Cant wait !

  • Azza says:

Now everyone form an orderly line, placards at the ready and repeat after me. “We want Hyatt to become an American Express travel reward partner for UK American Express customers, we want Hyatt to become an American Express travel reward partner for UK American Express customers.”

Or something a little more catchy than that but you get the idea.

Also Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur also coming this year.

    • LittleNick says:

Agreed, as long as it’s a reasonable transfer rate, ideally 1:1 given the higher value of a Hyatt point

      • Ken says:

So roughly twice the value of other hotel partners ?
Doubt if Amex would be paying for that if Hyatt ever came aboard

      • Matt says:

Pre-Covid, I stayed at the Park Hyatt Zanzibar on a redemption booking. When I checked-out, there was an error on my printed folio showing what the hotel was being reimbursed for my stay, which worked out at around 0.45 US cents per point. Presumably Hyatt probably adds a bit extra to cover admin costs when it sells points, but a 1:1 Amex exchange rate doesn’t sound unreasonable.

        • Rob says:

We value Hilton at 0.33p and Amex is 1:2 so 0.66p. We value Marriott at 0.5p so at 2:3, 1 Amex is 0.75p. We value Hyatt at 1.3p, so even 2:1 from Amex would be no worse than Hilton.

It’s also worth looking at what the schemes sell points for in promos. Amex is paying BA between 0.8p and 1p per Avios (Amex overpays vs other partners apparently.) Hyatt charges 1.5p in a good ‘buy points’ offer so assume Amex would need to pay close to that. Even 3:2 is top of the range.

    • BSI1978 says:

Sure Rob will be along later to confirm/advise, but as I recall he sat down with a head honcho from Hyatt last year & the clear message was that this wasn’t on the agenda regrettably.

      • Rob says:

I have told the global and EMEA heads separately that this should be a priority.

1:1 may work but I suspect 3:2 would be more realistic (and still better value than Hilton or Marriott transfers).

        • Gordon says:

          Fingers crossed!

        • Azza says:

Shall we start a change.org petition.

They always seem to work to get things done. 😀

        • LittleNick says:

Appreciate your efforts Rob as always, only ever had really good experiences staying at (granted, only a handful) Hyatt properties, and when my IHG diamond runs out, I’d be tempted to jump ship more to Hyatt if more points opportunities. Would 4:3 transfer rate also be possible or does that number get too ‘messy’?

          • Rob says:

Feels toppy unless Hyatt wanted to make their mark. If I was Hyatt I would be selling Amex on the potential of selling more credit cards to people who want Hyatt points and using that to get a good deal.

  • LittleNick says:

Would still prefer a Hyatt Uk credit card partnership as well as ability to transfer MR points

    • Camille55 says:

UK Hyatt Card or Amex partnership…or even via HSBC would help!

I think Rob mentioned there will be a slew of new cards in 2024? So maybe one of the above might happen.

  • Robert says:

A Hyatt card would be useful, still using my old Hilton Visa. Just made the mistake of thinking I was going to trigger the next level of WofH membership with one night required, during a stay 30th Dec to 2nd Jan but all 3 nights have been added to 2024, should’ve seen that coming!

  • His Holyness says:

Hyatt Chairman is in the news today 👀

  • Thywillbedone says:

Will look at Zoëtry Halkidiki as an option for this summer …it’s at the other end of a long beach which starts/ends with the Sani resort which I did last year. Similar price point to Sani …tough competition given the size and scope of Sani group of properties.

    • Thywillbedone says:

Worth noting that this property is adults only …so won’t be booking for summer after all …

  • BBbetter says:

New hotels in Asia seem excluded other than city ones that are hardly unique. Can we list a few of them, especially popular destinations for HfP readers, like Thailand and Bali?

    • Gordon says:

Stayed at Hyatt Alila Ubud and Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua recently both in Bali. I would recommend both. I also have my eye on Hyatt Alila Seminyak on my return in Q4 2024.
