Danish Air Transport, a small regional carrier which operates domestic routes across Denmark, Norway and Germany, will be operating a number of British Airways short haul flights this summer.

It is a wet lease, so DAT will providing the flight and cabin crew as well as the aircraft (1 x A320, 1 x A321). Standard British Airways service will be provided.

Danish Air Transport to fly certain BA routes this summer

According to Aeroroutes, it will be popping up on selected flights to Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Bologna, Chania, Copenhagen, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Faro, Frankfurt, Ibiza, Lisbon, Madrid, Malaga, Marrakech, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Munich, Naples, Nice, Palermo, Palma, Pisa, Preveza, Riga, Rome, Stockholm, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Toulouse, Warsaw and Zakynthos.

If your flight is impacted and you booked before the operating airline was swapped, you should have received an email from British Airways. If you are unhappy with this change, you are allowed to change your flight to a same-day BA-operated service.

Feedback on the A320 aircraft is good so far, especially in terms of the crew and front row legroom.

The A321 has only just arrived and I’ve not seen any feedback. The aircraft is getting on a bit – it is 26 years old and spent the first 20 years of its life flying for Sichuan Airlines in China.

Just wanted to confirm if the hilton points are charged in USD or GBP?

240k + 240k bonus cost comes up for me as £1,980.48 GBP, so was thinking of using BAPP instead of say Halifax Clarity.

    • Pablo says:

They charge in sterling. I made a purchase in March and paid with BA amex, no forex fee.

      • Rob says:

There is a FX fee because if you swap your account address to US and potentially use a VPN it is about 5% cheaper!

  • Howard says:

    DAT:

We flew our LHR to Madrid leg of a LHR to Lima flight on the 27/03 with DAT, it was terrible. Flight was heavily delayed taking off from LHR due to what a BA rep told us was “safety reasons”. We were flying business and were sat in the economy section, behind the curtain. No beverage or food offered until 90 mins into flight. Flight appeared old and grey. To top it off, our bags never arrived in Lima and when BA contacted I was told they had been put on the flight, however, taken off again!! You can make your assumptions as to why and maybe this was the safety reason? Others on our trip were bagless too. If DAT are to fly regular service for BA it is concerning as you do not get BA service, especially in business. Is this part of Sean Doyals improvement strategy?

    • Gordon says:

Sounds awful, Re your bag delays, you were entitled to purchase essential items like toiletries etc, also clothing up to a limit, and claim this back, with receipts.

Without looking into the finer details, (I am sure someone will know the actual rules and claim figures)

I would also recommend Apple Air tags for your luggage, as you could have tracked your luggage before departure and at the destination, so giving you a heads up, so you could make arrangements.

      • Howard says:

Luckily, we picked the BA msg up when on the Madrid Lima flight, enabling me to contact BA while on the ground in Madrid. We also had the AirTags in the bags, which enabled me to track the cases, this definitely helped get the bags back quicker when dealing with people in Lima. Still have to take up the issue with BA when we get back next week. This was my first experience with AirTags, they definitely paid for themselves on this trip.

    • Chrisasaurus says:

Safety issue could have been weight – was the flight full?

    • JDB says:

It’s definitely worth booking IB for the leg to Madrid as they properly pre-sort the baggage giving a much greater chance of making the connection.

      • Gordon says:

Agreed – I have booked IB LHR-MAD a day before my connection.

    • Graham D says:

BA really don’t help themselves sometimes.

If anyone is interested, there is actually a video on YouTube about the DAT A321 (Reg OY-RUU) that is being used for BA flights titled “Is this the worst Airbus in Europe OY-RUU?”

Internal bits and bobs literally hanging off it and a very dubious looking window 🙂

  • Alex G says:

If your Hilton account has a UK address, you will be charged in GBP. Change to a US address and you will be charged in USD, which is slightly cheaper.

  • TimM says:

“The aircraft is getting on a bit – it is 26 years old”

Truly a hark back to Dan Air!

  • Rich says:

As mentioned in the forum a few weeks ago the DAT plane is being used for the agios only flight to Faro in July which seems a really strange switch from my perspective…..

  • VinZ says:

Got it on the way back from Naples last Sunday. No email from BA, zero warnings. Felt like an easyJet flight. Can I claim any sort of compensation?

  • N says:

“However, if you do not wish to travel on this service, we have some options available to you, including changing to an alternative British Airways operated service.”

Do we know they’re only offering same-day changes? Or is there a chance we can squeeze in a date change too?

    • Rob says:

If there’s only one flight per day, possibly.

    • Sideshowbob says:

We had a DAT flight from Malaga to Heathrow and have managed to change to the next day.

  • Damien says:

Only seeing 80% bonus on Hilton points
