Danish Air Transport, a small regional carrier which operates domestic routes across Denmark, Norway and Germany, will be operating a number of British Airways short haul flights this summer.

It is a wet lease, so DAT will providing the flight and cabin crew as well as the aircraft (1 x A320, 1 x A321). Standard British Airways service will be provided.

Danish Air Transport to fly certain BA routes this summer

According to Aeroroutes, it will be popping up on selected flights to Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Bologna, Chania, Copenhagen, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Faro, Frankfurt, Ibiza, Lisbon, Madrid, Malaga, Marrakech, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Munich, Naples, Nice, Palermo, Palma, Pisa, Preveza, Riga, Rome, Stockholm, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Toulouse, Warsaw and Zakynthos.

If your flight is impacted and you booked before the operating airline was swapped, you should have received an email from British Airways. If you are unhappy with this change, you are allowed to change your flight to a same-day BA-operated service.

Feedback on the A320 aircraft is good so far, especially in terms of the crew and front row legroom.

The A321 has only just arrived and I’ve not seen any feedback. The aircraft is getting on a bit – it is 26 years old and spent the first 20 years of its life flying for Sichuan Airlines in China.

Got the 100% bonus on Hilton, but only allowed to buy 80k, while my wife has the full 240k. Possibly because I bought some earlier in the year, or because I already have a decent stash?

  • Eric Silvester says:

We were advised by BA that our outbound flight LHR to DVB in September had changed to DAT. Tried to change it but only option was LGW to DVB and they were going to charge me over £100 for making the change!

    • Rob says:

Call again. No charge for this (and no need for Avios availability if you’re on a reward).

    >>I suspect a Star Alliance status match of some sort will be launched before 31st August. SAS won’t tell you about this when it happens but we will cover it here
Perhaps they won’t tell about it UNTIL it happens. Or do you think they will do a silent status match and people will have the new status but not be told what they’ve got?

    • Rob says:

      ?

The last thing in the world that SAS wants is for you to do a Star status match. They want you over at SkyTeam.

The Star airlines will almost certainly launch a match for ex-SAS elites but they won’t have access to the SAS membership database to advertise it. You won’t find out about it unless you read it here although I suspect there will be media advertising across Scandinavia.

When BA bought BMI there was a huge press and outdoor advertising campaign by the Star carriers to promote a match, and even a central website where you could go and choose which carrier you wanted a match to.

    • Blair Waldorf Salad says:

A silent status match as in automatically setting accounts up for people in other Star schemes? Try making that fly in the GDPR era!

  • Caps44 says:

What happens when there is only 1 flight a day and you have a return flight booked. You either have to increase your trip by 1 day or reduce it by 1 day, as they won’t allow you to move both flights.

    • Rob says:

You’re stuck. BA treats this as a goodwill gesture, although I am less convinced because the regulations insist that you are told the operating carrier when booking purely to avoid situations like this.

A320 seems OK though. The A321 isn’t looking good based on a report I had from a reader this morning.

  • Adam says:

My flight to Corfu is going to be on DAT… it can’t be that bad, can it? I don’t want to move to a PM flight, would much prefer to stick with my 6:50am departure so I can be by the pool at 1pm!

  • Clem Fandango says:

We flew the DAT A321 from LHR to TIA last Tuesday (2nd April) in CE. The plane was old (and still had Chinese writing all over the place!) but perfectly functional, and the legroom in CE was much better than BA metal. Seats were slim but comfortable for a 2.5h flight.

The crew were a bit disorganised at the start but were about the same as BA short haul. Food and drink were BA standard and the breakfast Frittata was actually very tasty!

    • Rob says:

      You forgot to say:

      *no wi-fi
*loo in the middle of the cabin, not at the back
      *no windows on exit row

  • RJA says:

flew on a DAT plane to Athens last Weds – huge amount of legroom in row 1.
