Hotel news in brief:

Hilton loses its second Ras Al-Khaimah hotel

Earlier this week we reported that the Hilton Al Hamra Beach Resort in Ras Al-Khaimah (Dubai’s far cheaper little sister) had reopened as a Sofitel after refurbishment.

Someone mentioned in the comments that the other Hilton-branded hotel in Ras, Hilton Ras Al-Khaimah Beach Resort, was also leaving the chain.

We’ve now had confirmation that the hotel will leave Hilton on 1st July and rebrand as a Rixos property. Rixos is an Accor brand, as is Sofitel, which means that the hotel is likely to join the other ex-Hilton as part of Accor Live Limitless.

This will be the second Rixos property is Ras after Rixos Bab Al Bahr. The new Rixos is not yet bookable.

Hilton Honors members have multiple other options in the Emirate. As well as the iconic Waldorf Astoria there is also a DoubleTree and a Hilton Garden Inn.

Regent Berlin hotel to leave IHG

The Regent Hotel in Berlin, part of IHG One Rewards and one of the very few Regent hotels out there, is to close.

According to German media reports, the building will cease to be a hotel completely from the end of the year. It is still bookable until then.

This hotel was built as a Four Seasons and retained the decor when the chain gave up the property, unable to deliver the expected quality of service in the face of Berlin’s low room rates.

The hotel website is here.
