British Airways is launching a new Avios promotion today.

It is reducing the cost of economy Avios flight redemptions to Jersey by 50% between October and March. It is to promote the resumption of flights between Gatwick and Jersey this summer.

The offer was due to launch today (Thursday) but as I am typing this on Wednesday we haven’t been able to test it.

Get 50% off Avios flight redemptions to Jersey

Full details of the offer were revealed in ‘The Club’, the online magazine for British Airways Executive Club members – see here.

Here’s the small print:

  • you must book between 20th June and 4th July 2024
  • you must travel between 1st October 2024 and 31st March 2025
  • the offer applies to both Heathrow and Gatwick flights to and from Jersey
  • the 50% discount only applies to flights in Euro Traveller / Economy
  • the cash element is not discounted

The ‘most Avios, least cash’ rate for flights to Jersey in Economy is 9,250 Avios + 50p each-way off-peak and 9,750 Avios + 50p each-way on peak dates. This is before the 50% discount is applied. Other mixtures of cash and Avios are available.

There is no indication that the standard cancellation rules (cancel up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund less the cancellation fee) are different.

Our last review of the Executive Lounge at Jersey Airport is here, from 2020.

I did a mini-review of the Atlantic Hotel, which is probably the best choice on the island, here. The Atlantic is part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World so it is possible that it will soon by bookable with Hilton Honors points once the SLH integration gets underway.

  • Just Nick says:

Still full price as at 6:20.

  • Jerri says:

    Not showing 50% off yet

  • ClubSmed says:

I believe that it is only for flights from London, so connecting flights from anywhere else in the UK will not get a reduced fare

    • daveinitalia says:

Oddly enough I know someone who booked GLA-LHR-JER yesterday for a flight in September and the amount of Avios was lower than normal. Was that a glitch, a different promotion or something else?

  • planeconcorde says:

Yesterday BA cut the number of daily services between LHR to JER to just 3 per day, for the winter 24-25 season. Adding more daily services between LGW to JER. The number of daily services on that route varies depending on the day of the week.

  • Gordon says:

This has actually come at the right time for me, for a change, going to Jersey with friends, and don’t fancy the drive down to the port and getting the ferry for a few hours.

  • JdeW says:

Since when has BA had a publication called ‘The Club’? In 25+ years of BAEC membership I have never heard of it, yet alone read it!!! From where in the BA app does one access this august publication?

    • Rob says:

It would have been posted to you pre covid, so you must have opted out.

    • AJA says:

I never received the physical publication but have received regular emails from BA with the link to it.

I thought that it was linked to the end of the physical magazine you used to read on board the planes as I think that is when i started to receive the emails. I didn’t realise it was a stand alone publication. I think there is a link to it on the desktop BAEC page but not in the app. Am on mobile at the moment so can’t confirm that.

    • AJA says:

And Rob helpfully provided the link to it in the article above.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Via your account but in the website version.

In ‘communication settings’ or similar description

  • Nick M says:

It’s still showing as 18500 + £1 return for me at the moment… I haven’t earned any Avios for a while, so may have dropped out of RFS eligibility, but this is still RFS pricing isn’t it?

  • Billy Nicholson says:

Still showing full Avios price 8:41
