British Airways is launching a new Avios promotion today.

It is reducing the cost of economy Avios flight redemptions to Jersey by 50% between October and March. It is to promote the resumption of flights between Gatwick and Jersey this summer.

The offer was due to launch today (Thursday) but as I am typing this on Wednesday we haven’t been able to test it.

Get 50% off Avios flight redemptions to Jersey

Full details of the offer were revealed in ‘The Club’, the online magazine for British Airways Executive Club members – see here.

Here’s the small print:

  • you must book between 20th June and 4th July 2024
  • you must travel between 1st October 2024 and 31st March 2025
  • the offer applies to both Heathrow and Gatwick flights to and from Jersey
  • the 50% discount only applies to flights in Euro Traveller / Economy
  • the cash element is not discounted

The ‘most Avios, least cash’ rate for flights to Jersey in Economy is 9,250 Avios + 50p each-way off-peak and 9,750 Avios + 50p each-way on peak dates. This is before the 50% discount is applied. Other mixtures of cash and Avios are available.

There is no indication that the standard cancellation rules (cancel up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund less the cancellation fee) are different.

Our last review of the Executive Lounge at Jersey Airport is here, from 2020.

I did a mini-review of the Atlantic Hotel, which is probably the best choice on the island, here. The Atlantic is part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World so it is possible that it will soon by bookable with Hilton Honors points once the SLH integration gets underway.

In true BA IT fashion, the website doesn’t work as expected 🙂

It’s coming up at full Avios price

  • SammyJ says:

    10.47 and full price!

  • SaxonChap says:

I’m just now checking an off-peak weekend, 25/10 to 29/10, and it’s coming back with 37,000 Avios plus £2 for 2 people in economy. Seems there’s no 50% discount at all.

  • AndyD says:

It looks like the discounts are live now.
    74,000 avios + £8 for 8 people in Economy
    LHR – JER 14/3/25 returning 17/3/25

  • Just Nick says:

    Discounts now live.

  • Londonsteve says:

Cash flights are between £41 and £45 each way for October at the moment. If we value an Avios at 1p, even after the 50% discount we’re still paying more in Avios than they’d cost in cash, and you’d earn a sprinkling of Avios and tier points on those. The attraction of booking with Avios will be for those seeking the option to cancel.

  • George K says:

Are LGW-JER flights likely to continue in the winter season and/or next year?
