ibis Earls Court hotel to re-open as a two-brand property

The massive (for West London) ibis Earls Court hotel is approaching the end of a major refurbishment.

The hotel has split into two during the works:

ibis London Earls Court room
  • Mercure London Earls Court will have 282 rooms, of which 144 will be available from the end of July and the remainder completed by the end of the year

A new restaurant, Barnaby’s, has also been created.

I suspect that rates will be low and that, given that the new rooms are looking good, this will represent a decent deal for someone looking for a cheap option.

This hotel used to be in high demand due to having the Earls Court exhibition centre opposite. This has now been demolished and will be replaced by housing. The Olympia exhibition centre is also closed for refurbishment, and when it reopens will have Hyatt and citizenM hotels on site.

History may show that the hotel should have been demolished and turned into apartments rather than refurbishing it, but for now you can take advantage of what should be decent deals.

Both hotels are part of the Accor Live Limitless loyalty scheme which we reviewed here.

You can book the ibis London Earls Court here and, for stays from late July, book Mercure London Earls Court here.

The new rooms at Ibis Earls Court are brilliant, they’ve been very tastefully done and in general the hotel has great connections nearby

and pretty convenient for LGW – train to Clapham Junction, and then two stops on the Overground to West Brompton

  • Rob says:

    Correct.

I’m staying at the IC Crete in ~3wks, booked for €250 which, for Crete in peak, I considered to be very reasonable especially when compared to Marriott or Hilton offerings on the island which were *considerably* more.

Stayed at Domes of Elounda last June, it was absolutely stunning, and so the IC Crete has a very high bar indeed…

I’ll be interested to see a review. I think the main issue for me is that it doesn’t have a beach, in the previous hotel prior to refurb (Hotel Hermes) there was a connection to a pebble beach in front of the hotel.

I personally really rate St. Nicolas Bay Resort, which is slightly further out of the town but really high quality.

With so many new IHG hotel openings the list of hotels in the Luxury and Lifestyle programme that you published in 2022 is out of date and I can’t find an up to date list.

Got a £220 a night rate for dbb at the IC in Crete for end of may bank holiday next year. Flight prices not as friendly at the minute though 🙁

  • Aston100 says:

Yeah I don’t think this Expedia offer is as good as it sounds.
I am sure I also had this offer a month or two ago, and the prepay rate wasn’t available at some of the properties I was interested in.

    Anybody stayed at Domes Zeen?

  • Numpty says:

On the subject of connecting rooms, stayed at a Club Med once with connecting rooms via 2 internal doors – each door had a handle on one side only, each on the room side. I had locked the main door to the corridor with the lever, habit. Was then in the other room via connecting doors. My connecting door blew shut, and it only had a door handle on one side i.e. the other side from where i was! So i was in the other room with no room key, and with the latch on the main door from the corridor. Staff had no idea what to do, so i picked the lock on the internal door with a credit card! That was when i saw all the scratches on the door next to the lock, so at least i wasnt the first.
