Hotel news: Global Hotel Alliance adds 32 hotels, Sofitel Dublin Airport breaks ground

News in brief:
Global Hotel Alliance adds 32 hotels
Global Hotel Alliance is a marketing group used by almost 40 upmarket hotel brands with a total of 800+ combined properties in over 100 countries. It is the world’s largest alliance of independent hotel brands.
Kempinski is the biggest brand that most people will know. Other major names include NH Hotels and sister brand nhow, Pan Pacific, Corinthia, Capella, The Doyle Collection and Anantara.
In general, these are strong national chains in their respective heartlands which have not – with the exception of Kempinski – made the jump to being global brands.
Four further regional brands have decided to join GHA:
- Unike Hotels adds 17 hotels across Norway
- Sunway Hotels & Resorts adds 11 properties in Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam
- Andronis adds six properties on the Greek islands of Paros and Santorini
- Paramount Hotels adds two hotels in Dubai
GHA relaunched its GHA DISCOVERY loyalty scheme in 2021 and recently added home and villa rental group Plum Guide and Regent Seven Seas cruises.

The Sofitel Dublin Airport hotel breaks ground
Arora Group, which owns a number of airport hotels in the UK, has announced the start of construction of a new hotel at Dublin Airport.
The 412-bedroom property (CGI render above) will be flagged under Accor’s Sofitel brand and will be directly connected to Terminal 2. When it opens it should be the most luxurious hotel around Dublin Airport.
Arora already owns and operates the Sofitel at Heathrow Terminal 5 which we reviewed here and the Sofitel at London Gatwick.
Given that construction has only just begun I suspect we won’t see it opening until at least 2026.
