Get £100 American Express cashback on a £250 spend with WorldHotels

American Express has launched a new offer from the WorldHotels consortium.

If you haven’t heard of WorldHotels, it is a marketing group – rather like Preferred Hotels or Leading Hotels of the World – which lets hotels remain fully independent but share a common marketing platform. As their website puts it:

“WorldHotels is a proven soft brand solution for a curated collection of luxury & upscale independent properties.”

Amex cashback with WorldHotels

Assuming that your American Express card is targetted and that you register, you will receive £100 cashback when you spend £250 at a participating WorldHotels property.

This represents a 40% saving if you spend exactly £250 which isn’t to be sniffed at. The offer ends on 16th December. Cumulative spend is OK.

There are participating hotels across Europe but the UK ones are:

  • Courthouse Hotel, London (Shoreditch)
  • Courthouse Hotel, London (Great Marlborough Street)
  • The Washington Mayfair Hotel, London (Curzon Street)
  • The Caesar Hotel, London (Queen’s Gardens W2)
  • Royal Garden Hotel, London (Kensington High Street)
  • The Crown, London (Cricklewood Broadway)
  • The Riverside, Salisbury
  • Bruntsfield Hotel, Edinburgh
  • Ten Hill Place, Edinburgh
  • Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness
  • Ness Walk Hotel, Inverness
  • Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort, Langbank

WorldHotels was (is?) a Virgin Flying Club partner. It has disappeared from Virgin’s hotel partners page as you can see here. However, it is still listed on the WorldHotels list of airline partners. Flying Blue and Miles & More are also likely to be of interest, but there are no Avios airlines.

A new Hilton offer has appeared on my Amex BA card this morning. Spend £200 get £50 back before 27th December. Perfect timing for me as I need to make a booking. It’s valid at many hotels in UK and Europe but I’d suggest checking the list of valid locations prior to booking.

  • Axel says:

The biannusl Hilton csdhback offer of £50 for £200 spend popped up covering a new list of countries

  • tony says:

May have been mentioned before but Leading Hotels of the world offering 15000 MRs on a £600 spend on my Plat.

    • tony says:

And £50 off £200 at Hilton on my BA Amex…

      • ianM says:

Got it on Plat – but it is ‘on checkout spend only’ – how strict is this?

        • John says:

If a prepaid rate is processed by the hotel it will count as checkout spend.

If they make you use a 3rd party site to prepay online, it may not count.

  • Jimbob says:

Can anyone recommend any of the London hotels included in the WorldHotels offer?
    Thanks

  • Ken says:

    The pricing is the same.

    The standard points post.

I never received new customer bonus or any bonus points or higher multiple points, but I’ve never chased as it’s not worth my time.

  • Nigel says:

There are hotel loyalty schemes where you can only exchange your points for base level rooms like IHG and a very few others like the brilliant Hyatt one where you have the run of rooms including suites. Then there are others who offer suite upgrades depending on usage/status like Accor. (I’ve just got Gold on All Accor but suite nights come after €5600 spend once you get Platinum. Always near but yet so far).

Buying Ambassador at IHG looks generous as it gives you a guaranteed upgrade at Intercontinental, Platinum level and a free weekend night. However, and having had Ambassador for two years, there is NO obligation on Intercontinental properties to honour the weekend night. Despite booking months in advance both at Intercontinental in Pattaya and Edinburgh neither had the free weekend night available. It’s all subject to availability.
It’s ok buying Ambassador membership but in my view it is not fair that a major plank of the Ambassador offer is not honoured. Buying points on IHG is only worthwhile if you are happy with redeeming for a base level room (unless I’m mistaken!) Ambassador is only worthwhile if you discount the weekend room upgrade as subject to availability!

    • Rob says:

Best to search for weekend voucher rooms first and then buy! Or indeed book and buy – you can book an Ambassador weekend room without being AMB.

    • John says:

It’s rare but I’ve seen suites for redemption at some IHG properties, not sure if it they were mistakes.

As diamond this year I have received very good upgrades on redemptions to the base room too…

    • BBbetter says:

Are you really booking the ambassador rate? There’s a specific website for that and the general IHG website doesnt show this rate. If you have booked the AMB rate (if it says so in the booking), the hotel cannot refuse to honour it.
The ambassador program has become useless now as you can get better cash deals with Virtuoso agents like Emyr. The only saving grace is the voucher.

      • NorthernLass says:

Hotels only have to make a certain number of rooms available for the Ambassador free night. The George seems to have the worst availability of all of them though!

    • patrick says:

I emphatically disagree and derive enormous value from the vouchers and late check-outs.

  • Roberto says:

Re the Hilton £200 Amex offer. I got night stopped on Monday at Gatwick and spend £200 at the Hilton.

Of course the offer comes out the day after my card was charged…

Ba will eventually picking up the tab but would have been nice to have the £50 extra too.

    • Kevin C says:

We recently used the Ambassador free night at The Tokyo ANA Intercontinental for a club room and got upgraded to a small suite. This showed on the system soon after we booked. The refurbished rooms are lovely and the club offering is excellent. The property is still being done up but if you can get one of the new rooms it is worth considering.

      • Rob says:

I am very pro the AMB voucher because most hotels now include suites. If you want a suite for the space (for kids) or simply to hang out, you can make a substantial saving.

Hotels do seem to be retricting bookings to a fixed number per weekend now. When we were in Boston last year, I booked an AMB rate for one room and then found all availability had gone and we were unable to use another for the kids.

  • Alex says:

WorldHotels is just another brand of Best Western

    • TGLoyalty says:

Yup purchased it in early 2019 and you wouldn’t really know it unless you dig deep. Like they’re keeping it quiet on purpose.
