Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

ENDS 10pm: Buy Avios for just 0.88p via Finnair Plus!

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Finnair (yes Finnair, not British Airways) has been running a VERY attractive ‘buy Avios’ bonus promotion.

You will receive a 50% discount when you buy Avios.

This takes the price down to 0.88p! It is the cheapest ‘buy Avios’ deal we have seen for a LONG time.

10pm tonight UK time (Wednesday) is your deadline to jump in.

You can buy on this page of the Finnair Plus website.

NEW: Buy Avios for 0.88p via Finnair Plus!

The Avios can only be credited to a Finnair Plus account. You can move them into a British Airways Executive Club account by linking your BA and Finnair Plus accounts via the process here.

Please don’t be put off by this because it is a very simple process:

That’s it!

How many Avios can you buy?

There is no minimum purchase, although your bonus depends on how many Avios you buy.

The discount is staggered:

  • 35% off when you buy 5,000 to 19,000 Avios (1.43 cents = 1.19p)
  • 40% off when you buy 20,000 to 49,000 Avios (1.32 cents = 1.10p)
  • 45% off when you buy 50,000 to 74,000 Avios (1.21 cents = 1.01p)
  • 50% off when you buy 75,000 to 200,000 Avios (1.05 cents = 0.88p)

What does it cost?

At the top end, you will pay 0.88p per Avios under this offer.

Transactions are charged in Euros, so you will pay slightly more if your credit or debit card adds a 3% foreign exchange fee.

The most you can buy is 200,000 Avios for €2,100.

Based on my spreadsheet of the last 9 million Avios I redeemed, I got 1.23p of value – and this is based on very conserative valuations for the flights I booked. If you have a plan to use the Avios, because you should never buy speculatively, then this is a very good opportunity.

You can check pricing and buy on this page of the Finnair website.

The offer ends at 10pm today, 20th November.

Just to echo what Veyron and others have said. Very easy to set up the Finnair Plus account and then link it to BA account. I’d recommend downloading the Google authenticator app instead of relying on the SMS to complete the 2FA. Purchase went through easily – and I’ll wait a couple of days before transferring the Avios across to BA. Thanks to HfP for highlighting this.

  • Ian mc says:

Yes. Definitely use the Google authenticator. The text code rarely works. The App is easy

  • Morts says:

Thanks HfP for calling this out, and the other contributors for some of the tips around transfers!

  • Andy says:

Just got 140,000 before lastnights deadline. @Rob – any sniff of BA avios deals on horizon for Black Friday?

  • Paul G says:

Hi, just put the phone down to Finnair and was told I’ll have to wait 90 days to get my avios transferred to BA? Is this correct, the 2 factor with mobile also didn’t work but will try the google app.
