Where will British Airways fly the A380 in Winter 2025?

Whilst plans to refit the British Airways A380 fleet keep slipping further and further back, there’s no doubt that the aircraft still has a great attraction for flyers – even it means getting the old BA Club World seat!

Following some adjustments to the British Airways winter timetable last week, we have a (for now) firm plan for where the super jumbo will be heading.

Remember that the winter timetable runs from the last weekend in October to the last weekend in March.

BA A380 routes

The A380 will be flying on five routes from late October 2025:

Dubai

Following a recent timetable shift, Dubai will once again see one A380 service per day this winter, along with two Boeing 777 services. The latter two should have Club Suite.

Johannesburg

The timetable update now means that BOTH Johannesburg flights for winter 2025 will be flown with an A380.

Los Angeles

One daily flight will continue to operate with the A380, together with two Boeing 777 services. The latter should have Club Suite.

Where will British Airways fly the A380 this winter?

Miami

Originally scheduled as 1 x A380 and 1 x Boeing 787 service, BA is now showing an A380 offering both flights for the winter season.

San Francisco

One daily flight will continue to operate with the A380, together with a Boeing 777 service.

This means that the fleet of 12 A380s will operate seven daily departures from Heathrow. Four are flying on routes where a round trip takes more than 24 hours, and given the reliability of the A380 recently I assume there is spare capacity built in.

Whilst Boston and Washington see an A380 during the summer, it appears that the demand is not there during the winter. Dallas Fort Worth, currently an A380 route, is being transferred to American Airlines. Singapore is losing the A380 from 1st June.

    Doesn’t apply to most of us on here, but for Y class, upstairs on the A380 is probably pretty good with the 2-4-2 layout and the extra storage bins for the window seats.

    And for J class, upstairs on the A380 is much quieter than downstairs in F. If its not fully loaded, the single middle seats in the 2-3-2 layout are great for moving to when its time to sleep/

      Yes it’s the old Y but still good like an older 777. But a bit roomier with bigger toilets which is great. Nice quiet ride. Would never pay for it. Points/companion voucher/taxes expensive enough as it is to west coat US. Sat behind Dustin Hoffman once! (Who cares)

    I’ve flown J in the A380s of six different airlines and BA’s was the worst experience by a country mile – and more. I would go a long way to avoid any BA flight in an A380. The best of course are those with a bar.

      Agree. I’ve tried Qatar A380 a couple times and really enjoy hanging around the bar for a drink or two.

    Just looked thru flight radar and the LHR-sin and sin-lhr have not gone technical in the last week. Maybe they’ve sorted them out? They’ve used 4/5 (I lost count) different planes, and while they may have been an hour late arriving, they’ve all got to destination within the window for being late. So my onward travel looks hopeful!! I’m off on one in 2 days, so wish me luck 🍀 I don’t want to be faffing about trying to locate my hotel in the pitch black-my eyes are bad enough without all that.

    DP: Can confirm that for bookings after the winter season, in our case late May 2026 JNB to LHR BA56, equipment is a 777 with CS.

    What a coincidence. Just booked a Y redemption to LAX and chose the 380 deliberately , would normally have gone for the earlier departure. Always get a feeling that could be doing more with avios when doing a Y redemption, but it’s the difference between going and not so feels like a good use for our family, and having done a one way redemption looks like great value!

    as far as A380 availability is concerned – they are now starting to come up for the seriously “heavy maintenance” check … so XLEA has been out in Manila for nearly 3 months …

    presumably this will mean that two planes will be out of action in Manila at certain times in the coming years – up until now it was normally only one A380 at a time

    Some airlines have refitted fleets twice in the time it’s taking BA to get the (now outdated) club suite into its planes.
    At last years run rate (4-5), with 18 787-9, 2 777-200, 12 A380 and 9 787-8 left on do (total 41) it will be another 8 years beyond 2033 when all the Heathrow fleet is done
