IHG’s voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa in Haslemere has fallen into administration.

You can see the appointment of receivers on its Companies House filings page here.

The hotel is still taking bookings – the website makes no mention of the receivership – although this is normal in this situation.

The value of the property will fall sharply if it closes, the staff leave and the building starts to deteriorate.

If you have paid in advance for a stay then you should check whether your booking will be honoured.

If you have booked but not paid, you have no money at risk. However, you may want to make a back up reservation in case no buyers for the hotel come forward.

Weakening US demand, VA completely exposed. I guess getting rid of your other non-US routes wasn’t the best commercial decision 🙂

    • ChrisBCN says:

Except they made a profit last year for the first time since 2016.

      • kevin86 says:

Last year became irrelevant once the following year started

    • Andrew. says:

US tourists are still travelling in this direction though.

    • The Original David says:

Strange, because VA doesn’t even fly to the US, it’s quite a long way from Australia. Bad news for VS though…

      • Barrel for Scraping says:

The rule on here is to make up two letter codes rather than use the IATA codes, even Rob does it. We had LO (Logan Polish Airlines) and AC (Aer Canada Club) in the recent article about Avios partners.

        • Richie says:

Thankfully Virgin America and Virgin Express no longer exist.

          • Lumma says:

I’d rather people call Virgin Atlantic, VA, in the comments, than read comments with obscure airport codes that you have to Google to find out what airport they’re talking about

  • JohnTh says:

We really like that Voco – great pool and one of the best breakfasts in terms of chiice and quality.

  • Sideshowbob says:

The fact that the reviews on the voco hotel say recently that they no longer had an alcohol licence should have set alarm bells ringing.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Strange the reviews on google from only a few days/weeks/months ago mention cocktails etc

  • allycat says:

    +1

  • S879 says:

    +1

  • mark2 says:

That is a shame. We have a five night booking starting 11th May.
    Still better to know now.

  • TGLoyalty says:

Have an IHG spend £300 get £75 on my Platinum this morning expires 30/6/25

    • Yorkie Aid says:

Thanks for posting! I didn’t have it on Platinum but on BABB instead.

    • River says:

I have this too. There’s something in the T&Cs about it needing to be “settled in GBP”. Does that mean only UK stays will work?

      • Rob says:

Ignore that, Amex put it in every time and it is complete and utter nonsense.

        • River says:

Great. Thank you Rob. Might swap out a points stay in Phuket to be a cash stay now!

          • Rob says:

Not unless Phuket has moved to Europe. Have you actually read the property list?

  • Andrew. says:

There’s two pathways to a Virgin holiday. You can search for flights and add a hotel, or search for a holiday. The price is often marginally different.

The last time I went on a holiday with Virgin, I booked a Virgin Atlantic Flight & Hotel deal, powered by Virgin Holidays (and payment collected by Virgin Atlantic). At the time it triggered a 12% rebate at PAW compared to a 2% rebate or Virgin Holidays.

Things may have changed, that was about 7 years ago.
