REGISTER NOW: IHG offering triple points at Crowne Plaza, voco and three other brands

IHG One Rewards has announced a new global promotion which, interestingly, will sit alongside its OTHER global promotion that we covered a couple of weeks ago.

IHG One Rewards is the loyalty scheme covering InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Hotel Indigo amongst other brands. However, none of those brands are taking part in this new offer as you will see!

You need to register for the ‘triple points’ bonus here.

IHG offering triple points at five brands

IHG accounts registered outside Europe, the Middle East and Africa will not be able to register.

You can learn more about IHG One Rewards in our overview article here.

How does IHG’s new bonus points promotion work?

The offer runs from 1st July to 30th September.

This is slightly different to the main global promotion (‘2,000 bonus points for every two nights’) which runs to 31st August. You can register for that offer here.

You must register for this new offer in advance via this link. Registration is now open.

What will you earn?

You will earn TRIPLE BASE POINTS for every cash stay during the offer period at these brands:

  • Crowne Plaza
  • voco
  • Vignette Collection
  • Candlewood Suites
  • Garner Hotels

Realistically, as a UK resident, only the first three brands – Crowne Plaza, voco and Vignette Collection – are likely to be relevant, and to be honest only Crowne Plaza and voco are well represented.

Existing bookings DO count so there is no need to rebook anything.  Only one room per stay counts towards the offer, so if you are booking multiple rooms you should put each in a different name.

What is the bonus worth?

The standard earning rate in IHG One Rewards is 10 points per US$1 (75p) excluding taxes.  I value an IHG One Rewards point at 0.4p although you can often do better, which means your base return is 4p per 75p spent, ie just over 5.0%.

Triple base points means that you would receive 30 points per US$1 (75p) spent, excluding taxes, which gives you a return of 16%.

You would also receive a status bonus on your base points:

  • 20% bonus for Silver Elite
  • 40% bonus for Gold Elite
  • 60% bonus for Platinum Elite
  • 100% bonus for Diamond Elite

A Platinum Elite member would therefore receive 36 points per $1 spent – 10 points x 3 plus an extra 6 points as the Platinum Elite bonus.

You would ALSO receive your bonus points for the standard IHG promotion for summer, which is 2,000 bonus points for every two cash nights you stay or 8,000 bonus points for every four cash nights. You can register for that offer here and read more here.

Conclusion

This is an attractive offer, and far better than the version that ran last year. Adding Crowne Plaza makes it far easier to find participating hotels.

The offer kicks in for stays from 1st July but you can register today.

I registed for the Euro one yesterday. Jay have the odd Crowne Plaza stay, but the majority of my IHG stays in the UK are in HIX and HI.

Anyway, the 8k bonus for 4 nights will yield far more than I’ll get for this (got a CP night next week that will complete my 2nd bonus).

Assume triple points will only be base points x 3, so if it earn 1000 base points as a diamond member, I’ll get the 100% bonus and 1000 points = 3k points rather than 2k.

Garner hotel near Preston junction of M6 for anyone breaking a journey.

    • RussellH says:

There are several junctions around Preston, but the hotel appears to be in Samlesbury, so presumably the A59 junction. Site says J31.
Random date in Feb – 15 000 pts or £70. Worth investigating further.

      • NorthernLass says:

It’s on the A59. Not a particularly lovely location per se, but well-situated for the Ribble Valley/Trough of Bowland, and well-priced, as you say.

    • Matt says:

I have stayed here and had a good stay. Friendly staff.

Just followed the link in the article (in the conclusion section) to the website and it works – there is a landing page and scroll down to “register”, click that and log in.

Email received that I’m registered and it appears as so in my “offers”:section alongside the others I’m registered for.

Offer not showing in app or when I used Chrome browser on Android phone or laptop. It did show on my smart TV but I couldn’t action it. Eventually registered using MS Edge on laptop.

  • southlondonphil says:

I received a (presumably targetted) email offer for up to 5 Bonus Elite Nights on top of the other two promotions so aiming to take advantage of the triple-stack opportunity over the Summer!

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

      Have that one as well.

Almost need a PhD in advanced maths to work out the combinations!

I have one stay in July but it’s currently a points one so am changing it to cash using a mix of the suite offer and railcard rate so as to get 10 nights and the 8k bonuses and will swap some cash bookings later in the year to points.

Would rather have the nights banked now.
