American Express brings back its cardmember lounge at Wimbledon

The American Express cardmember lounge is returning to Wimbledon for the 2025 tournament which starts on Monday.
Assuming nothing has changed, here are some photos from 2022 taken by reader Alex. Hopefully it will be sunnier this year!
There are also a few other Amex ‘happenings’ going on, including the return of the Amex Pavilion.
Visit the American Express Wimbledon Cardmember Lounge
The American Express lounge is located by Gate 12, behind No 3 Court.
Any American Express cardholder can enter the lounge, irrespective of the country where their card was issued. I’m not sure about opening hours for 2025, but last year it opened at 10.30am and closed at 7pm, with last entry at 6.30pm.
Each cardholder can take up to two guests into the lounge.
If nothing has changed, the lounge will not have any toilets. You have to leave the lounge and rejoin the queue to get back in, which is clearly not ideal.
You get a great view over the outside courts (rain permitting):
Here is a PR shot from 2025:

…. and an actual interior shot from 2022:
Whilst the lounge has a bar and serves snacks, these are not free.
In general, unless things have changed, the size of the queue to enter the lounge is generally seen as not justifying the benefits of being inside.
One mistake, arguably, is that there is no priority entry for holders of premium American Express cards. A Platinum cardholder paying £650 per year might have hoped for priority over a free American Express Cashback cardholder.
Returning for 2025 – the Amex Pavilion
Back following what was presumably a successful launch in 2024, the Amex Pavilion – situated on the Hill – offers you the opportunity to try an array of interactive games and enjoy a cafe on the lower level.
Amex cardmembers, along with two guests, will have exclusive access to the second floor viewing platform. This offers the best views of the large screen on the Hill.
Based on 2024, the Amex Pavilion is open from 10am to 9pm or 30 minutes after the last ball if earlier.

The Amex Experience returns
The Amex Experience is back this year in the Southern Village. It is free and open to all. Activities this year will include:
- Wimbledon themed games
- ‘epic photo moments’
- the chance to send a postcard anywhere in the world
- a tennis ball customisation station
- an Amex Tennis Charm to collect and accesorise your look
Last year it was open from 10am to 9pm in Week 1 and 10am to 7pm in Week 2.

An exclusive £20 cashback offer
There’s a special cashback offer for purchases on site. If you spend £140 or more in the grounds during the tournament on your card you’ll get £20 back. You can only get the cashback once per card.
Registration is required. You should see this offer in the Amex app or on your online statement page.
Cardmembers also get an exclusive 20% discount on all online purchases at The Official Wimbledon Store until 21st July.
Amex complimentary radios return
Once again, you can pick up a complimentary radio headset from American Express kiosks around the grounds, as well as in the Queue, the Cardmember Lounge and the Fan Experience.
These offer three channels of commentary.
In previous years you have to been able to leave radios to be recycled at the exit gates.
You get last-minute Centre Court seat availability
As in previous years, American Express cardholders have exclusive access to seat returns for Centre Court.
The way these are distributed has varied from year to year. All American Express is saying is ‘Follow Amex UK on social media for more information’ and that ‘Tickets will be released across three sales windows between 28 June – 10 July 2025.’
I got tickets via this route a few years ago and found myself in the media area – my seat came with a little desk to type on!
