Enterprise Car Club Hilton Honors deal

What is Enterprise Car Club?

Enterprise Car Club is a competitor to ZipcarIt offers cars ‘by the hour’ which can be booked online or via an app and picked up and dropped off – in big cities – at parking bays near your house.  In smaller towns, cars can often be picked up at railway stations, car parks or Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches.

Cars are available 24/7.  On top of the £60 annual fee, you pay an hourly charge (from £8 in London, with a daily cap of £50ish) when you rent a car and a mileage charge to reflect the distance you travel.  Fuel costs are include –  if you need to fill up, a fuel card is in the car – as is £1,000 of excess damage cover. You can pay a supplement to reduce the excess to £100.

I have no personal experience of Enterprise Car Club, although I have seen plenty of their vehicles around in London, but I have had a Zipcar membership for around 15 years now.  It works well for us, with around 10 cars within 10 minutes walk of our house, and has meant we have had no need to buy a car for day to day use.

Enterprise Car Club Hilton Honors deal

Where does Enterprise Car Club operate?

Whilst car clubs are most commonly found in London and other big cities, Enterprise operates in smaller towns too.

There are 1,300 cars and vans available across the UK.  The website currently shows over 200 towns as having cars available.  However, I am guessing that – outside big cities – cars are only available from your local Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch and not on residential street corners.

This offer is also available for residents of the Republic of Ireland.

How do I claim my Hilton Honors membership deal?

You need to apply via this special page of the Enterprise Car Club website.

You must be at least 22 years old to join.

As the £20 of driving credit covers the £20 membership fee for the first year, the 2,000 Hilton Honors points you will receive are an extra bonus on top.

Looks like where I live in the East End is an Enterprise Car Club desert. As it is a copy of the traditional Zipcar and not the drop off anywhere Zipcar flex then it’s pretty pointless unless you have a couple of cars near your home.

Even then, I find it difficult to see that many uses in London for short term car hire versus using a taxi/uber, public transport or just tradional car hire for a day. Zipcar flex was great for an early flight at Heathrow but even that became way less useful when they moved the drop off to an inconvenient location combined with the opening of the Elizabeth line

Interesting. I’ve only recently started looking at this over the last 6 months- also based in the East End. I did see at one point if you had a Zipcar membership, you could get an Enterprise Car Club on for £1. The only time I needed a car, I found it easier to hire one – £50 for 2 days over the Easter weekend from Hertz at London City Airport! Still haven’t joined either scheme. I keep thinking that these sort of clubs are like Costco – where they make more money from memberships than the business itself!

  • Sam wardill says:

Enterprise car club is ubiquitous in Cambridge but Cambridge residents get a deal that is better. I tried it when I moved to Cambridge (6 years ago) but their customer service was truly awful so this put me off. They are also not quite as ubiquitous as zipcar in london.

    • PGR says:

+1 for bad customer experience with ECC. Even cancelling was a hassle

    • CamFlyer says:

The cars near me in Cambridge have all disappeared, and the bays repurposed, in the past 2 years.

I have also experienced their terrible customer service.

  • R says:

Does anyone have experience with how well the Amex platinum rental car insurance works with this around the £1000 vs £100 excess?

  • ed_fly says:

The car club website is terrible, very hard to actually find out where the cars are located.

    • CB Root says:

Using Google Maps and searching for “Enterprise Car Club – See Locations” works fine for me…

  • daveinitalia says:

“However, I am guessing that – outside big cities – cars are only available from your local Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch and not on residential street corners.”

Why would you assume that? The scheme was originally not part of Enterprise and was called City Car Club and one of its unique features was it served where Zipcar didn’t (but in places that Zipcar did serve then City Car Club was traditionally poorer). It’s easier for them to get space on a street than to have a branch, I doubt the smaller towns would have an Enterprise branch.

    • Rob says:

Because whenever I use Enterprise for a standard car rental, which I do a few times a year, there is always a car club bolted on.

Enterprise is the only car rental chain which still has town centre branches – indeed it’s their USP. York has two branches for example. Hertz and Avis shut most of their non-airport branches during covid.

      • Lumma says:

I thought their USP was that “they’ll pick you up”. Or do they not do that any more?

      • Scott says:

Avis/Budget has a branch in my town centre. I can’t say how wide-spread this is, but seems unlikely they would pull out of all towns apart from one.

  • neshah says:

Hi chaps the Ts and C’s on the linked registration page state that this offer is only valid for signups upto 31/12/24 – i assume this is s typo however can it be clarified?

  • Richie says:

Enterprise car hire had a shortage of cars in London a while ago and they drafted in their car club cars, cancelling many bookings at very short notice, including mine. I cancelled my membership. It’s best to have as many memberships as practicable.

    • HampshireHog says:

When I’ve rented an Enterprise car from the York branch I was given a car club vehicle
