If you aren’t checking on a regular basis – sale or not – on your points and refundable cash bookings for price changes then you run the risk of paying more than necessary.

June last year I booked a hotel in New York for this January (next week actually) (not part of a chain) for what was a very good rate of $ 1827 for 7 nights that I was happy to pay.

A check in November led to a saving of $300

A check just before Christmas meant another saving of $300

I’d rather that $600 be in my pocket!

And my bookings spreadsheet shows I saved 13k IHG points in one fell swoop on one night at an HI (not connected to the Sunday sales).
