I was about to book a Club Europe redemption BER-LHR but in the time between checking it last night and returning to book it today (mistake, I know) they seem to have pulled all award seats for all evening flights BER-LHR for all future dates that I sampled. Looking at my date in particular, because I snapped the seat map before and after, there are no new seat reservations. What are they up to?! Cash prices on those evening flights have been jacked to 727 EUR one way.
Firstly seat maps are useless at trying to guess how busy a flight is because not everyone selects a seat immediately. Plus the size of CE can vary.
Also you’ve not mentioned the date you’re travelling on or that you looked at.
As long as BA has met its guarantee of issuing 4 CE rewards it can do as it pleases with adding more and taking those away.
When is this for?
Thurs 13 March. I can see some availability on the 19:50 a week later, so perhaps I was too hasty in my conclusion. I was just surprised that they went from fully open to no availability so suddenly.
Maybe the flight is full? Maybe it’s empty and they’re thinking of cancelling it? Either would account for very high prices and no reward flights available.

It would be very unlikely for BA to cancel a flight for commercial reasons less than 14 days before departure due to the compensation regultions plus there is also the issue of those passengers booked onto the LHR-BER leg plus possible cargo

Wow! I’ve foolishly done the same thing. I should have gone straight in for the BER-LHR/LCY flight last night, but there were lots of options and I had to double check something so left it for today. Then….. they’ve all gone for the April dates I was looking for.
I think I’ll leave it to see what re-appears, if it ever does.
Doh!
The reason for this is now apparent from another thread.
There is a strike of airport personnel at many German airports on Monday so BA would have pulled avios availability and restricted new bookings (by increasing their cost to restrict them) for flights next week to help facilitate the rebooking of passengers affected by Mondays strike,
