Thanks @NorthernLass I called BA and the agent was super helpful.
Turns out that using the Barclays upgrade voucher in PE out and CW back was working out 178,500 avios + £714 vs using the 241 companion voucher in PE out and CW which was 145,750 avios + £714! I’ve therefore booked using the 241.
TBH, I struggle to see where I’m going to get decent value from the upgrade vouchers, I’ll probably choose the avios option next time.
