Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club 300k Avios for QA LHR-PER round trip?

    Hello everyone, first post.

I’m working towards a round trip to Perth. From my understanding (and the QR calculator) it’s better value on QPC (180k plus taxes etc).

I wanted to start checking availability to get a feel for things even tho the trip is not planned until the spring 2026, so was using the BAEC site as aa.com is throwing errors today (it was working a couple of weeks ago).

The BAEC is showing all 4 sectors off-peak, Business return round trip for 1 at 300k Avios plus £900 ish taxes. This is much higher than I would expect, I was expecting something like 240k plus taxes etc.

I can’t get to the next screen as I don’t have enough Avios yet, and probably won’t until next year, so I can’t check any combinations.

Does this look right to seasoned users here, or have BA just devalued Avios on LON-PER redemptions?

    Any guidance gratefully received, cheers,
    Simon

Forgot to mention I was looking at 15/5/25 LHR-PER and 5/6/25 PER-LHR if that helps (very few Business spaces to test this on, but those dates had availability earlier today).

I’m not sure what QPC is but Qatar airways is usually the lowest Avios at (I believe) 90k + taxes each way via Doha.

Search it as two one ways.

    Going out, I’m getting

    90000 Avios + £ 422.99

    Coming back I’m getting

    150000 Avios + £ 226.60

The difference is outbound, both legs are with Qatar whereas inbound one is with Qatar and one with Ba so it is pricing it as two separate flights. I’m guessing at 300,000 Avios you have selected Qatar and BA on the outbound also.

    Thanks both.

QPC is Qatar Privilege Club, my attempt to mean booking through the Qatar website rather than BAEC!

Thank you froggee for the insight, you’ve highlighted a trap for the unwary beginner, much appreciated.
